THOMPSON, Pa. - A laptop and digital camera were stolen last week from a home on Heavenly Acres Road in Thompson Township, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release. The Dell 1500 laptop and Kodak digital camera were taken Wednesday or Thursday, police said. Anyone with information may contact Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg at 717-485-3131.

By LISA GRAYBEAL Staff Writer, Waynesboro CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Patrick Atkinson fired the shots that killed William Barbour Jr. on Sunday morning after Barbour broke in the front door of the Guilford Township, Pa., home of his former girlfriend, Pennsylvania State Police said Tuesday. Atkinson, who was living at the 1628 Magnolia Court home with Christine Pittman, shot Barbour several times as he tried to get to Pittman, who was in an upstairs bedroom, police said. Despite his wounds, Barbour reached the master bedroom of the split-level home, where he confronted Pittman, the mother of his three children, before succumbing, police said.

A couple who died in a murder-suicide over the weekend in Chambersburg was in the process of divorcing, according to documents filed in the Franklin County (Pa.) Court of Common Pleas. Gordon M. Brown, whom Pennsylvania State Police said fatally shot his wife and himself in their home, was seeking custody of their two sons. In his petition for custody, he claimed Kelly R. Brown filed for divorce and was “threatening to leave the home with the children.” Brown shot Kelly Brown in the head with a handgun, then shot himself with the same gun, according to state police.

Guitar reported stolen from Pa. home CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Someone stole a deep blue Jackson RR 3 electric six-string guitar from the basement of a Locust Street home, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release. The guitar was taken between 7 p.m. July 30 and 3 p.m. Aug. 1, police said. It has a shark-fin style body, police said. Bag containing $7,000 stolen from vehicle CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Someone stole a bag containing about $7,000 in checks and cash from a vehicle in the 200 block of Kolpark Drive Friday morning, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Stereo equipment valued at $3,000 was stolen or damaged on Thursday from a sports car parked at the Chambersburg Mall, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The passenger side window of a Mitsubishi 3000GT was shattered between 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., police said. A Bazooka sub-woofer speaker system and a Pioneer amp were stolen from the rear of the car, police said. The thief tried unsuccessfully to remove the stereo from the console, police said.

Police log 1/27 CHAMBERSBURG, Pa . - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of a safe from a Guilford Township store. Police said someone cut open a garage door at Quality Farm and Country Store on U.S. 30 between 7:30 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Once inside, they stole a safe with various items and fled, police said. Anyone with information on the burglary may contact Pennsylvania State Police at 1-717-264-5161.

Theft of $5,000 from Hamilton Township home investigated CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were investigating the theft of $5,000 from a Hamilton Township man's home that was reported on Thursday. A key to a safe was taken from the bedroom of the man's home in the 4000 block of Guitner Road, troopers said. The cash and more than 100 Tramadol pills were taken from the safe, troopers said. MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police said they were investigating a Sunday night incident in which shots were fired at passing vehicles in the 10000 block of Garnes Road. No one was injured in the incident, which was reported about 9 p.m., police said. Two of the victims were identified as Brandon Divelbliss, 19, and Benjamin Brewer, 18, both of Mercersburg. A third unidentified motorist was also fired at, police said. Pennsylvania State Police were asking that anyone with information call them at 717-264-5161.
