Summit Health CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Amy Stouffer, occupational therapist with Summit Health, recently was certified in hand therapy by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission Inc. Stouffer is an occupational therapist for Summit Health at its location on Walnut Bottom Road in Shippensburg, Pa. She has been with the organization for 17 years. Certified hand therapists are required to have at least five years of experience treating patients, more than 4,000 hours in direct practice of hand therapy and must pass a comprehensive test of advanced clinical knowledge.

The bride is the daughter of Scott and Jackie Frey of Hagerstown. The bridegroom is the son of Bill and Ginger Bigelow of Boonsboro. The bride is a 2001 graduate of Boonsboro High School, received a bachelor's degree in occupational science from Ithaca College in 2005 and a master's degree in occupational therapy in August 2006.

A Hagerstown artist credits the car accident that nearly killed him with saving his life. "I think my life is better now," said James H. Twyman Jr., 55. The Walnut Towers resident said he found Christ and creativity during the decade he spent in the Western Maryland Hospital Center after a 1968 drunken driving accident that rendered him quadriplegic.

Hammond-West Olivia Diane West and Kevin Lewis Hammond were married Saturday, May 16, 1998, at Christ United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Pa. The bride is the daughter of Thomas and Janis West of Waynesboro and Vicki M. West of Hagerstown. The bridegroom is the son of Arthur and Barbara Hammond of Keedysville. The bride is a 1993 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School and a 1997 graduate of Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pa., with a bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy.

Ice cream has been known to soothe a broken heart, but who knew it could ease the pain of a broken leg? For Hannah Wagner, 7, of Waynesboro, Pa., the all-you-can-eat ice cream at Saturday's Scoop-a-Palooza temporarily took her mind off a recent trampoline accident. “It's fun and you can eat all the ice cream you want, and you only have to pay $4 to get in,” Hannah said. Wagner's mother, Amanda, said the event was the right medicine to brighten her daughter's spirits.

New staff members at Total Rehab Care Total Rehab Care, a division of Washington County Hospital, announces that Kimberly Hopkins has joined the staff as program manager and Nicole Jovel has joined the staff as marketing coordinator. A resident of Chambersburg, Pa., Hopkins received a bachelor of science degree in occupational therapy from the University of New England. She has more than 10 years of experience as an occupational therapist including several years of leadership and management.
