Eileen May Gelsinger Naugle, 63, a resident of Manor Care Health Services, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the nursing home. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service Tuesday at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, Pa. The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, near Mercersburg, Pa.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Fayetteville, Pa., man charged with the 1997 shooting death of his live-in girlfriend pleaded guilty to third-degree homicide Monday during an appearance in Franklin County Court. Victor Harold Vaughn Jr., 45, of 1472 Mountain Shadow Terrace, will serve no less than 15 years in prison for the killing of Tonya Marie Caldwell, according to the terms of a plea agreement. A conviction on a charge of third-degree homicide carries a maximum of 40 years in prison.

Donald A. Smith, 76, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, Pa., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at the nursing home. The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to service at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa. A celebration of life will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Members of the Western Maryland Homeschool Association and of the Western Maryland Homeschool H.E.A.R.T.S group recently sang Christmas carols at Somerford Place on Sharpsburg Pike. Members attending were from Smithsburg, Sharpsburg, Hagerstown, Fairplay and Pennsylvania. At the conclusion of the songs, a resident of the nursing home gave each child a candy cane. The children and their families also socialized with residents while there.
