Man charged with possession of drug paraphernalia WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Waynesboro police charged a man with possession of drug paraphernalia after realizing he was wanted on a warrant. Police said in a news release that an officer recognized Malcolm Simmons, 21, of 113 S. Potomac St., Apt. 1, as being wanted on a warrant from the Franklin County (Pa.) Probation Department. The officer saw him on South Potomac Street at 10:56 p.m. Simmons ran from police in an alley and was warned he could be subjected to a stun gun, although it was not used, police said.

One teenager died and another teenager was in critical condition after a single-vehicle accident Saturday night in downtown Chambersburg, Chambersburg Police Department Chief David Arnold said Sunday. Jorge Adrian Navarro, 17, of 455 Madison Ave. in Chambersburg, was pronounced dead at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, according to a news release from Chambersburg police. A 13-year-old passenger was airlifted to Hershey Medical Center, where the teen was in critical condition with head and leg trauma, according to the news release sent Sunday afternoon.

INWOOD, W.Va. -- A Stephens City, Va., man was discovered dead Sunday morning after the Nissan Xterra he was driving on Interstate 81 went off the road and struck two trees, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department said. Thomas Knight was declared dead at the scene, according to a news release from the sheriff's department. Deputy T.D. Heckman was dispatched at 2:22 a.m. to the southbound scene near the six-mile post, about one mile north of the Inwood exit off I-81, according to the news release.

Twigg Cycles was burglarized Tuesday, July 10, and police were searching for the burglar, the Hagerstown Police Department said in a news release today. Eleven generators were taken from the store, off Edgewood Drive in Hagers-town, police said in the news release. The burglar shattered a store window to get inside and was driving a white cargo van, police said. Anyone with information can call police at 301-791-2610.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A 16-year-old Martinsburg boy was charged with delivery of a controlled substance after police said he sold marijuana to a confidential informant Thursday, according to a Martinsburg Police Department news release. The drug deal was arranged in the 300 block of North Maple Avenue in the city and police said a second individual fled the scene as officers approached to make arrests, according to the news release. The 16-year-old was arrested and detained in a juvenile detention center, police said.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The Franklin County (Pa.) Department of Emergency Services has started offering free child car safety seat installation guidance at its facility near Letterkenny Army Depot. Every year, nearly 1,400 children are killed in car crashes and more than 185,000 are injured, according to a news release. The use of car safety seats by children and infants can increase the likelihood of surviving a crash by 54 percent to 71 percent, the news release stated. GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Officials in Antrim Township, Pa., will be presented with an award next week at the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors Conference. Antrim Township was named first runner-up for the Road & Bridge Safety Award, according to a news release. The award recognizes townships for contributions of time and effort in making roads and bridges safer for motorists, the news release stated. Providence Township in Lancaster County was named the winner of the award by the supervisors association, the Pennsylvania Highway Information Association and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

o Obituary GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A 45-year-old Greencastle woman was found dead on Grant Shook Road at 1:30 p.m. Saturday after being reported missing a day earlier. No foul play is suspected in the death of Christine Lynn Shank, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release. In an earlier news release about Shank's disappearance, police said she was suffering from a medical condition and might need immediate treatment. She was driving a 1997 Saturn car when she left her house.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office is investigating a fire Tuesday morning that caused $500 in damages to 1992 Ford Explorer in the 100 block of Sentry Ridge, according to a news release. The fire, which occurred about 6:34 a.m., started around the driver side, the dash and the passenger compartment, according to the news release. The fire was out when fire officials arrived, the release from the State Fire Marshal's office said.
