GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The final land development plan for Antrim Township's proposed municipal complex was withdrawn Tuesday by the board of supervisors. Antrim Township Supervisor Curtis Myers said that the plans are now "in limbo. " "The government complex that they already had blueprints for - we were opposed to that building for the size and cost," said Supervisor Sam Miller. The supervisors had to act on the land development plan because in August they voted 2-2 to grant a 180-day extension request for the municipal complex.

The existing seven-member board took over in March and will leave office immediately following the July 31 election.

CLEAR SPRING - The owner of the Silver Belle tavern has won approval from the three-member Clear Spring Board of Zoning Appeals to expand into a house next door. The three new members of that board on Tuesday reversed an earlier denial of the expansion that had been sought by owner Carolyn Staley, according to Town Mayor Paul Hose Jr. The current board is made up of Kurt Kayser, Mike Johnson and Gary Gruber, Hose said. The Silver Belle tavern is at 236 Cumberland St. With the approval, Staley will be able to place four tables with seating for 16 people, a handicapped restroom, a cooler and storage in 238 Cumberland St. In a letter to Staley in February, the former zoning board said the current tavern location was already a nonconforming use that was permitted only by a special exception.

Twenty-four people - 12 Republicans and 12 Democrats - are running for a seat on the five-member board.

WASHINGTON COUNTY - The Washington County Commissioners' ideas of what they would like in the next county administrator vary. But there is one common thread. They would to like to see someone who will keep a strong watch over the county's finances take charge of the county's operations. "Somebody who won't hesitate to tell the commissioners that we shouldn't be spending for this or for that and who wants to try to get the debt paid off," Commissioner John C. Munson said.
