April 24, 2011 CYCLING Fahey, Ruff take 5th ROCKY GAP, Md. — Sue Fahey and Dave Ruff, representing Team Ruff Fitness, finished fifth in the Masters Division of the Greenhorn Adventure Race in a time of 2 hours, 56 minutes.  The race consisted of trail running, canoeing, mountain biking and navigation to find 8 checkpoints in mountain terrain. PREP BASEBALL Musselman 16, Lewisville (S.C.) 4 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Aron Shiley had four hits, including two home runs, and drove in six runs to lead Musselman to a five-inning victory over Lewisville, S.C. on Thursday in the Mingo Bay Classic.

Hagerstown Regional Airport officials said Wednesday that they are counting on the community to help retain the airport’s new, twice-weekly jet service to Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Lakeland, Fla., which is slated to start June 23. “We’re ecstatic about this service to these two popular destinations. However, we are depending on you folks in the community and the Tri-State area to fill these seats and make this work,” Airport Director Phil Ridenour said at a news conference in the airport terminal Wednesday morning.

James William (Bill) Kegley, 67, of 506 Quincy Hall Drive, Myrtle Beach, S.C., died on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Julia Manor Nursing Home. Born Jan. 29, 1944, in Beckley, W.Va., he was the son of the late Horace Hampton and Macie Blanch Kuhn Hopkins. He was raised by James and Jean Kegley. He was employed with the police force in the District of Columbia for more than six years. He loved sports, including the Dallas Cowboys football team and basketball. He loved vacationing on cruises and singing country music.

Bettie Jane Jackson Tomlin, 95, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and formerly of Charles Town, W.Va., died Friday, March 25, 2011, at National Health Care, Garden City, S.C. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

JUNE 8, 1921-JAN. 15, 2011 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Earl Dwight "E.D. " Stouffer Jr., 89, formerly of Silver Spring, Md., passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. He was born June 8, 1921, in Hagerstown, Md., and was the son of the late Earl and Ruth Toms Stouffer. E.D. was also predeceased by his sister, Kay S. Heath, who died in December 2010. He was a 1939 graduate of Hagerstown High School, 1941 graduate of Hagerstown Business College and a 1950 graduate of the University of Maryland.

APRIL 28, 1971- Richard "Joe" Noll, 39, passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke brought on by complications resulting from a traumatic brain injury from a motor-vehicle accident in 1995. Born April 28, 1971, in Martinsburg, he is the son of Vickie L. Marschner and his stepfather, Chris Marschner, of Hagerstown, and the late Lawrence Noll. Joe resided at Rosa’s Care Home. He attended Easter Seals Adult Day program in Hagerstown. Prior to his accident, Joe was a quality-control inspector at TFX Marine in Hagerstown.

AUG. 4, 1928-OCT. 1, 2009 ARNOLD, Md. - William McKinley Cosey Jr., 81, a resident of Arnold, Md., died at home peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Oct. 1, 2009. He was born on Aug. 4, 1928, in Hagerstown, Md. His parents were the late William M. and Mabel Louise Cosey. Mr. Cosey lettered three years in baseball and two years in football at Hagerstown High School, and graduated in 1946. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College, receiving a BA degree with a major in economics and a minor in political science.

MARCH 7, 1987-AUG. 22, 2009 SMITHSBURG -- Jacqulyn Denise Roof, 22, of 12004 Bayer Drive, Smithsburg, Md., passed away, Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md. Born Saturday, March 7, 1987, in Aurora, Colo., she was the daughter of Donna Morton Jeter and Dale Jeter of Smithsburg, and Donald M. Roof of Wildwood, Fla. She graduated from Smithsburg High School in 2005, where she played soccer, lacrosse and tennis. Denise was employed at Fratelli's in Hagerstown.
