Barbara “Barb” Myers was a mother to many beyond her own family. When girls at Girls Inc. of Washington County, where she was a cook, found out she had pancreatic cancer, they flooded her mailbox with get-well cards. She was buried with those cards since she didn't get a chance to read them before she died, said daughter Tammy Mowery of Falling Waters, W.Va. “Kids, she really loved kids,” Tammy said. Life wasn't always easy. Barb was the oldest of Paul O. and Sarah Summers' seven children, one of their daughters dying while an infant.
