In the end, Wade Moore did David Freitas one better. Freitas had three hits, but Moore had THE hit of the game — a chest-high tackle of Kannapolis catcher Michael Blanke on a play at home plate to score the winning run in a 4-3 victory over the Intimidators in the completion of Tuesday’s suspended game before a morning matinee crowd at Municipal Stadium. Freitas was the lightning and Moore was the thunder before rain washed away the regularly scheduled game, which will be played today as part of a doubleheader, beginning at 5:05 p.m. “You hate to do that and I’m glad no one got hurt,” Moore said.

MARCH 20, 1941-JAN. 5, 2011 SHARPSBURG — Robert Raymond “Bobby” Moore, 69, of Sharpsburg, Md., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at his home. Born March 20, 1941 in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Bessie L. Little and the late George William Moore. He was employed as a truck driver, working for several different firms. He is survived by his wife, Debora Moore; five sons, Jason Moore and Jeremy Hutzell, both of Maryland, Robert Moore of West Virginia, Mike Moore of Hagerstown, and Mark Moore of Baltimore; two brothers, David Moore of Pennsylvania and James Gaynor of Pennsylvania; several grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his dog, Baby.

Eleanor Bosworth Moore, 81, of Charles Town, W.Va., died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Greenfield Assisted Living in Berryville, Va. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va. A memorial service will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

MARCH 29, 1948-MAY 4, 2010 KEYSER, W.Va. - Donald W. Moore II, 62, of Keyser, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at WMHS Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, Md. Born March 29, 1948, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., he was the son of Lillie (Rockenbaugh) Moore and the late Rev. Donald W. Moore. Mr. Moore graduated from Allegheny Community College of Pennsylvania with an AA degree. He was employed as a film scanner at NISC, Rocket Center, W.Va. Donald was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lutheran Chancel Choir, Polish Pines Golf Club and Board of Directors.

JUNE 24, 1927-APRIL 18, 2010 WILLIAMSPORT - John Leo Moore Jr., 82, of Williamsport, Md., and formerly of Severna Park, Md., died Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md. Born June 24, 1927, in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late John Leo Moore Sr. and Annabelle Cecelia Eastwood Moore. He graduated high school in Pawtucket, R.I., and graduated from Brown University, Providence, R.I. He was a book editor for Congressional Quarterly in Washington, D.C., for 20 years, until retiring in 1990.

FEB. 16, 1917-DEC. 11, 2009 WILLIAMSPORT - Ruth Alberta Moore passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Hilltop Vistas Assisted Living at Homewood in Williamsport, where she had been a resident for the past five years. She previously resided at 300 Woodpoint Ave., Hagerstown. Born Feb. 16, 1917, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Clyde E. Hose and Clara Swartz Hose. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Hagerstown, Vita Vota Class and sang with the senior choir.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, McConnellsburg. The service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

DEC. 19, 1930-OCT. 21, 2009 Doris Marie Moore, 78, of 410 Guilford Ave. in Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Washington County Hospital. Born Dec. 19, 1930, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry Charles Reese and Lena Elsie Baker Reese. She was a life member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, Chapelwood Garden Club and AARP, and was an avid bingo player. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry S. Moore, whom she married Dec. 2, 1952.

JAN. 31, 1927-OCT. 9, 2009 Jerry Moore Paxson, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Washington County Hospital. Born Jan. 31, 1927, in Purcellville, Va., he was the son of the late William Carroll and Nell (Humphrey) Paxson. He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. He attended Duquesne University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he was in the Army Specialized Training Program. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army Air Force.
