The North Hagerstown Chapter of Moms Club meets the first Thursday of the month at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 141 S. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. The club is open to all stay-at-home moms who are interested in meeting and networking with other moms. The next meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 3. The MOMS Club of Chambersburg West held a Holiday Giftaway Dec. 8 that provided free holiday shopping for the families of Franklin County Head Start students. The club collected new and gently-used toys, games, books and stocking stuffers from members and the community, as well as monetary donations that were used to purchase new gifts. More than 1,500 gifts were distributed to 250 children - 190 of whom came through in the first hour. Club president Dana Kuehler said, “My heart is just full of joy today.

The Hagerstown-North chapter of Moms Club will meet Thursday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. at Pangborn Park. The group is looking for moms who would like to join the chapter. The Moms Club is a national nonprofit organization for mothers who stay at home with their children. Member benefits include monthly meetings with guest speakers, age-appropriate play groups, and daily activities for mothers and their children. The Moms Club also performs service projects benefiting children in the community.

The MOMS Club of Chambersburg West will host an open house Thursday, Aug. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Falling Spring Presbyterian Church, 221 Philadelphia Ave. in Chambersburg. The event will be a back-to-school carnival featuring games, activities and snacks geared toward elementary and preschool-aged children. Admission is free and all mothers and children interested in learning more about the MOMS Club are invited. The club is a chapter of MOMS Club International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting stay-at-home mothers and their families.

Thumbs up to the Washington County Citizen Corps Committee, whose efforts brought to Hagerstown a 6-foot steel beam that was part of the World Trade Center buildings when terrorists attacked on Sept. 11, 2001. The beam will become part of the Emergency Services Remembrance Garden in City Park “as a way of honoring and remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice,” according to Verna Brown, emergency management coordinator for Washington County. The MOMS Club of Chambersburg West will be hosting two benefits for injured firefighter Jason Kuehler. Kuehler, assistant chief of the Franklin Fire Co., was severely burned during a mobile home fire March 19. He is being treated at Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center in Baltimore. According to Kuehler's Facebook page, which has been updated by fellow firefighters when they visit him, he was scheduled to undergo surgery Monday. He's had several skin-grafting procedures. All proceeds from the MOMS events will benefit Kuehler and his family to help with medical and other expenses during his recovery and rehabilitation, according to a news release.
