PREP SWIMMING SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Jefferson swept a double-dual meet against Millbrook and Martinsburg at Shepherd College Saturday. Whitney Blume led the girls team - now 4-0 in dual meets - with a win in the 500-yard freestyle in 6 minutes, 33.73 seconds. The girls team defeated Millbrook 125-45 and Martinsburg, 120-50. Jake Iden helped keep the Cougars boys team improve to 4-0 with a win in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:17.31. The boys team defeated Millbrook 111-56 and Martinsburg, 119-48.

PREP BASEBALL SAINT JAMES - Brad Kretzer and Grant McWilliams combined for six hits and nine RBIs to lead St. James to a season-opening 15-5 win over Georgetown Day on Thursday. Kretzer had three hits and five RBI and McWilliams had three hits and four RBI to lead the Saints' 11-hit attack. Ben Farquhar had two hits and three RBIs. Tucker Smoot got the win, allowing three hits in four innings. Jefferson 11, Millbrook 9 SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Kyle Walker had three hits, including a two-run homer, to help Jefferson remain unbeaten.

BOYS BASKETBALL WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- Randy Zimmerman scored 27 points, including the game-winning shot with 1.6 seconds left to send Tussey Mountain (7-1, 4-1) home with a 50-48 Sideling Hill League win over Southern Fulton on Saturday. Josh Hall had 12 points and Luke Mellott added 10 for the Indians (6-2, 3-1) in a game in which no team led by more than four points. Tussey Mtn. 50, So. Kenny Frederickson had nine points and 15 rebounds and Boutieller grabbed eight rebounds for Grace (1-5). SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Martinsburg's Michael Cole simply smiled at the suggestion that things might get easier for his team as the postseason goes on. Hedgesville coach Kelly Church, though, wasn't in a smiling mood after the Eagles' 20-win season ended Friday night with the Bulldogs' 53-49 victory in the Class AAA Region II Section 2 championship at Jefferson High School. "The reality is the three teams in our section, I think, are all in the top five teams in West Virginia," said Church, whose Eagles beat Jefferson Wednesday night.

Jacob Whitmore had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs for the Applemen (6-3), who trailed 2-0 before erupting for 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 GIRLS BASKETBALL Faith 44, Broadfording 33 Madeline Samsell scored six of her team-high 11 points to start the third quarter as Faith Christian came from behind for a victory over Broadfording Christian on Tuesday. Faith shook its first-game jitters after falling behind 19-16 in the first half and used its height advantage to get the ball in the paint for easy baskets. Faith led 32-27 after three quarters. Carolyn Castle had nine points and six rebounds for Faith.
