Tiffany Brighton of Orrstown, Pa., graduated cum laude with a degree in nursing. Michael Donghia of St. Thomas, Pa., graduated cum laude with a degree in politics. Derek Forney of Shippensburg, Pa., graduated magna cum laude with a degree in broadcasting and communication. Lauren Gilbert of Chambersburg, Pa., graduated summa cum laude with a degree in psychology.

Matthew Henesy, son of Timothy and Marianne Henesy,was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Clear Spring District Historical Association for his interest in history, excellence in academics, his service to the community and leadership skills. Matthew, who graduated from Clear Spring High School in June, plans to attend Messiah College in the fall and major in history.

Russell Herman was accepted to the Maryland State Police Cadet Training Program. Andrea Abernethy will attend Stratford Career Institute. Cierra Johnson has been accepted to Neshema Dance Co. as a trainee.

Hodgson-Knight Herman and Susan Flinn of Carl Junction, Mo., and Terry Hodgson of Anthony, Kan., have announced the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Anne Hodgson, to Brandon Wayne Knight, son of Philip and Kerrie Knight of Pittsburg, Kan. Miss Hodgson is a 2000 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School in Greencastle, Pa., and a 2004 graduate of Pittsburg State University with a degree in criminal justice and political science....

Four local high students and their families were guests of the Maugansville Ruritan Club at the monthly dinner meeting May 20. Each of the students was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Each of the winners and their parents or guest was introduced and then the student gave the club members a brief description of their future plans and vocational aspirations. Marah Drooger and Ronald S. Mumma were married May 24, 2009, at Thorpe Wood Retreat Center in Thurmont, Md. The bride is the daughter of Doug and Jacquelyn Drooger of Waynesboro, Pa. She is a 2005 graduate of Waynesboro High School and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Messiah College. The bridegroom is the son of Tommy Mumma of Hagerstown, and Ronald and Deb Mumma of Mercersburg, Pa. He is a 2005 graduate of Williamsport High School. He is a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps assigned to Headquarters Battalion, Exercise Support Division, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twenty-nine Palms, Calif.

Four recent graduates, two each from Williamsport and Clear Spring high schools, were awarded Masonic scholarships at their respective schools' awards ceremonies in June. Two students received $1,000 Masonic Charities of Maryland scholarships. They are Laura M. Forsythe, a graduate of Williamsport High School, who will attend Messiah College in Pennsylvania in the fall; and Hannah M. Smith, a graduate of Clear Spring High School, who will attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Roth-Munson Rachel Catherine Munson and Michael Lee Roth were married on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at St. James Brethren Church in St. James. The bride is the daughter of Robert and Cathy Munson of Boonsboro. The bridegroom is the son of David and Debra Roth of Williamsport. The bride is a 1999 graduate of Boonsboro High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Messiah College in 2003 and a Master of Education with a concentration in administration and supervision from Frostburg State University in 2007.
