Wednesday, May 30, 2012 PREP SOFTBALL CARLISLE, Pa. - Amanda Wink pitched a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and two walks to lead Greencastle-Antrim to a 7-0 victory over Big Spring in the PIAA District 3-AAA semifinals on Wednesday. Cassey Cordell had two hits, including a home run, Rachel Kline had two hits and two RBIs and Jenna Crunkleton had a double for the Blue Devils (18-5). PREP BASEBALL Smithsburg’s Ryne Willard will participate in the Brooks Robinson All-Star Game on Sunday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Willard, who hit .508 for the Leopards this year, is one of five infielders on the North team. The game, featuring Maryland’s top high school players, will be played following the Baltimore-Tampa Bay game, which starts at 1 p.m. North Hagerstown coach Steve Myers will serve as one of the North coaches. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 PREP BASEBALL ELDERSBURG, Md. - Tyler Nally had two hits and two RBIs to lead Williamsport to a 5-4 victory over top-seeded Liberty (14-4) in the Maryland Class 2A West region quarterfinals. In the fifth, Nally hit a two-run triple to give Williamsport a 4-3 lead, and the Wildcats added an insurance run in the sixth. Brandon Greene had two hits and an RBI and Zach Lucas and Riley Arnone each had an RBI for the Wildcats (11-9). Williamsport will play today's Poolesville-South Carroll winner in the semifinals Thursday, with site and time to be decided.

SUNBELT CLASSIC NORMAN, Okla. - Maryland fell to Texas and Ohio before defeating Canada at the Sunbelt Classic. Texas defated Maryland 6-4 and Ohio shut out Maryland 11-0. Maryland rebounded after falling behind 9-3 to Canada, rallying to tie the game in the sixth and win in the seventh. Clear Spring's Jordan Thurber had two hits. Maryland stands at 2-3. LEGION BASEBALL Funkstown 6, Williamsport 1 WILLIAMSPORT - Funkstown scored six runs in the second inning on Tuesday to defeat Williamsport in a Western Maryland District game.
