Some 800 riders will spend Saturday traveling by train to Oakland, Md., for the Autumn Glory Festival, on a trip sponsored by the Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum and the Hagerstown chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. This may be the last year for the Autumn Leaves Excursion to Oakland, according to museum President Bob Tracey. The trip is offered as an annual fund-raiser for the museum and draws passengers from as far as Boston, Chicago and the province of Saskatchewan in Canada, Tracey said.

By LAURA ERNDE Staff Writer FREDERICK, Md. - Maryland Gov. Parris Glendening opened two highway ramps here Friday that will make it easier for motorists to get from Interstate 70 to U.S. 340 and U.S. 15. Two more ramps will open next month to provide the final missing links between the three highways. Before, motorists had to use the congested U.S. 40, also known as the Golden Mile, to get from one highway to another. Standing under a white tent set up on one of the new ramps, Glendening said the $23.3 million project is important for both safety and economic development.
