Downtown Hagerstown's "Thursday Night Out on The Town" promotion will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today.Individuals will get a taste of the upcoming Western Maryland Blues Fest which will be held in June. KoKo Blue will play at the corner of North Potomac and East Franklin streets, Pete Lancaster will play at the corner of South Potomac Street and East Antietam Street, and Ronnie Ray and the Coolers will play in Public Square. The promotion also boasts discounts and specials at retail shops.

The Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Company's 75th annual carnival will run from 6 to 11 p.m. Monday, June 25, through Saturday, June 30. Live music will be featured at 7 and 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The event also will include rides and food daily on the grounds behind the Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Company building, 22 N. Main St., Smithsburg. Admission is free; amusement rides cost $15 per day for an all-you-can-ride pass Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Music lovers gathered to enjoy some live music at the inaugural River Rat Street Dance/Concert in Williamsport on Friday evening. The concert, held near the intersection of North Conococheague and Salisbury streets, was a precursor to the C&O Canal Days event this weekend in Williamsport. Joan Knode, the town's assistant mayor, said the concert was being held to build excitement around the weekend. The “River Rat” used to be the mascot for Springfield Middle School in Williamsport, and local sports teams also used to call themselves the River Rats, according to Knode.

Martinsburg Sunrise Rotary Club will sponsor its third annual Crab Feast on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Whitacre Farm. The event will feature all-you-can-eat crabs, shrimp, chicken and fixins for $40 per adult, $20 for kids younger than 10, and free for ages 3 and yunger. Live music will be provided by Drew Stevyns.  Crab Feast sponsors include Dr. B's premium microbrewed tea, Orsini's Appliances, QuadGraphics and State Farm agents Kay Lewis, Pam Neely and Dawn Newland.

The Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce recently donated $2,500 to the Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro to benefit “Destination ARTS!” Launched in July, Destination ARTS! features diverse, high-quality art in various mediums by established artists from around the country and talented local artists alike. It takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays at several galleries in downtown Waynesboro through the end of October.
