A memorial service for Mary M. Roth, 57, of 1306 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown, who died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, will be Friday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ in Hagerstown. Following the service, there will be a light lunch.

Estelle Louise Underwood Brown, 87, a resident of Menno Haven, Chambersburg, Pa., died Friday, April 24, 2009, at the nursing home. A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro, Pa. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in Harbaugh Hall at the church, where a light lunch will be served. Burial will be at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville, N.Y. Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

St. John's Lutheran Church, at 141 S. Potomac St. across from the library in downtown Hagerstown, is having a spring rummage sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items for purchase include gently used clothing, books, toys and household items. A light lunch will be available for purchase as well as desserts. All proceeds from the sale will go to mission work. For more information, contact the church office at 301-790-2510.

Charles William "Bill" Jones, 78, of Little Orleans, Md., died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Western Maryland Health Systems, Cumberland, Md. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at Needmore Bible Church. A light lunch will be served Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the church. The service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, Md. Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.

Memorial Recreation Center is seeking coaches and sponsors for the Ruth Monroe Summer Basketball League in Wheaton Park. The league is looking for 10 sponsors each for the junior division (ages 10 to 13) and the senior division (ages 14 to 18). The sponsorships cost $500 per team. The fee includes expenses for two referees per game, T-shirts with the sponsor logo and name for a roster of 10 to 12 players and trophies. It also includes contributions to the banquet dinner at the end of the season.

The Elizabethtown East Chapter of Neighborhoods First will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Rocky's Pizza, 40 N. Potomac St., downtown Hagerstown. Lions Club events Tuesday - Lions will attend the midday Holy Week Service at John Wesley Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St., in downtown Hagerstown. A lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches is available after worship. There is no regular meeting. The Hagerstown Lions Club's 89th anniversary celebration is Saturday, May 5, at Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 on Northern Avenue in Hagerstown.
