bobp@herald-mail.com The Hagerstown Suns had to grin and Barrett on Saturday. The Suns were all smiles early when Brian Carter's two-out single up the middle scored Mark Walker with the winning run in the 11th inning for a 4-3 victory over the Lexington Legends in the completion of a game suspended by rain. But Jimmy Barrett wiped away the happiness with five innings of five-hit pitching as the Legends swamped the Suns 9-0 in the regularly scheduled game. Barrett, from Cumberland, Md., took advantage of a 3-0 first-inning lead built on the wildness of Suns starter Kyle Gross and kept Hagerstown flailing away during his stint in front a number of family and friends.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Twice this season, a Hagerstown Suns pitcher has thrown a complete game. Unfortunately, each time, the Suns have lost. Wednesday against the Kannapolis Intimidators, Anthony Pannone was strong. He threw eight innings, allowing just one earned run on a Gustavo Molina home run in the bottom of the second inning. That was the only score in the game. Pannone (4-3) allowed four hits, walked one and struck out three. Offensively, Hagerstown's story was Bryan Carter.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - All things considered, the Hagerstown Suns probably wish Wednesday's rain had continued on Thursday. The Suns, rained out on Wednesday, saw their losing streak stretch to four games Thursday by dropping a doubleheader to the Lexington Legends, 8-5 and 9-0, on Thursday. Hagerstown took a 5-0 lead in the first game as Bryan Carter delivered a bases-loaded, three-run double in the second inning before Miguel Miranda and Julio Cordido hit solo homers in the fourth inning.

Alexander's great in Suns' win Lexington Legends TBA at Hagerstown Suns Felix Diaz (1-3, 4.20) 7 p.m WHAG 1410 LAKEWOOD, N.J. - To say Kevin Alexander has started the season slowly for the Hagerstown Suns would be an understatement. Through 37 games the third baseman had fared well with his glove but had only five RBI. Finally, Monday against the Lakewood BlueClaws, Alexander's bat came to life. He hit his first home run of the season and double his RBI output for the season with five as Hagerstown continued its dominance over the expansion franchise, scoring a 10-2 victory in a South Atlantic League Northern Division game.
