PREP WRESTLING Bennett wins national tourney VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Berkeley Springs' Tory Bennett went 5-0 at 171 pounds in the freshman division at the National High School Coaches Association tournament. He beat Austyn Hayes of New York 5-2 in the title match. Bennett went 54-4 for the Indians this season, placing third at the West Virginia Class AA-A state tournament at 160 and earning Herald-Mail All-Area first-team honors. PREP ICE HOCKEY The Washington County Northstars won the Maryland Provisional State Tournament title with a 3-0 victory over Northwest/Germantown on Sunday at the Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex. "We're excited, but it's kind of a letdown because now the season's over and it's time to move on," said Northstars coach Jamie Blackwood, whose team finished the season with a 15-2 record. A goal by Mitchell Sirface gave the Northstars a 1-0 lead in the first period. Andrew Lowery and Eric Bowers scored the game's final two goals in a span of 10 seconds in the third period.
