Tyler Moore homered for Washington, which lost its second straight. Moore snapped Kendrick's scoreless innings streak at 21 2/3 with a two-out, two-run homer in the seventh.

Jimmy Rollins hit two solo home runs, Nate Schierholtz connected in his Philadelphia debut, and the Phillies received a sharp pitching performance from Vance Worley in a 3-2 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night. After hitting the first pitch of the game to the warning track, Rollins homered in the third inning and again in the fifth. Both drives went into the seats in right field, unlike his inside-the-park homer on Tuesday night. Rollins and Schierholtz homered on successive pitches in the fifth against Edwin Jackson (6-7)

After Chase Utley was walked intentionally, Ruiz drove in Rollins with a single to left. B.J. John Lannan just can’t beat the Philadelphia Phillies. Roy Halladay struck out 10 in seven sharp innings, Raul Ibanez and Shane Victorino homered, and the Phillies completed a three-game sweep with a 7-3 victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday night. Lannan (2-4) got roughed up, allowing seven hits and six runs in two-plus innings to fall to 0-10 against the Phillies. “I don’t do anything different coming into these games,” he said. “I’m not worried about facing them again.

Ryan Howard homered and drove in four runs and Roy Oswalt pitched seven solid innings to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to an 11-3 victory over the mistake-prone Washington Nationals on Saturday. Oswalt (5-7), making his second start since coming off the 15-day DL Aug. 6 with a back injury, gave up three runs on six hits in seven innings. He also earned the victory in his last start despite tying his career high by allowing 12 hits in a 3-1 win at San Francisco Aug. 7. This time he was much sharper although he didn't have to be too fine thanks partly to Washington's shoddy fielding, as the Nationals committed three costly errors that led to seven runs.

No matter what happens in the next two weeks, the one thing Mick Billmeyer will always remember is how to write his name. That's helpful, but a small price to pay, especially since that autograph will forever verify that the Hagerstown native fulfilled one of the ultimate dreams of his baseball career. Billmeyer spent most of Friday putting his John Hancock on 60 dozen baseballs. It's a perk, a job and a ritual all rolled into one as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies as they prepare to participate in the World Series for the first time since 1993.

Cole Hamels wasn't about to give the ball to Charlie Manuel with the game on the line. He didn't have to. Hamels threw eight sharp innings, Michael Young hit a two-run double and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals 4-2 Tuesday night for their third straight win. Hamels (4-11) allowed one run and six hits to win his second consecutive start for the first time this season. The three-time All-Star lefty has struggled in his first full year after signing a $144 million contract extension last July.

If Dan Haren could erase the first inning, he would've stopped his losing skid. John Lannan tossed four-hit ball over eight innings against his former team, Ben Revere had three hits and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals 3-2 Monday night. Haren (4-10) came off the disabled list and took the loss after missing two weeks because of right shoulder inflammation. The righty allowed two runs and seven hits in five innings, striking out a season-high seven. He's 0-7 with a 6.66 ERA in his last nine starts, a career-worst losing streak, and 0-4 with a 5.54 ERA against Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA - "Now playing third base for the Phillies, Miguel Tejada. " It sure sounds like a great idea, except for one significant hurdle: Tejada doesn't want to play third base. Two major-league sources on Friday confirmed a report that the Phillies have offered rightfielder Bobby Abreu to the Baltimore Orioles for Tejada, the all-star shortstop who is seeking a trade to a potential contending team. The Phillies, who have their own all-star shortstop in Jimmy Rollins, would like to play Tejada at third base.
