The Hagerstown Police Department responded to the following incidents, according to spokeswoman Barbara Pickett: Oct. 7 o Breaking and entering was reported on North Mulberry Street. Nothing was taken. o A stolen and recovered scooter was reported in the 500 block of Liberty Street. o Theft of Maryland registration plates was reported in the 300 block of South Locust Street. o Jewelry was reported stolen in the 300 block of South Locust Street. Oct. 8 o Damage to property was reported on Alexander Street.

GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Mary and Randy Stewart believe that every time someone wears a Miana necklace and earrings, it's a chance to keep the memory of their daughter alive. Premier Designs, a direct jewelry business, has designed and named a necklace-and-earring set after the Stewarts' late daughter. Miana Stewart, the couple's only child, was murdered in Oct. 13, 2005, during a burglary in the family's home. She was 14 years old. Mary said during a recent Premier Design event she saw many people - mostly strangers - wearing the necklace.

Two face drug charges after Funkstown traffic stop FUNKSTOWN -- Two Washington County residents face drug-related charges following a traffic stop Monday night in Funkstown, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. At about 11:20 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle in the area of Edgewood Drive and Haywood Circle for having no rear tag lights. He smelled the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle, and a subsequent search of the vehicle found approximately 32 grams of crack cocaine under the passenger seat and a cigar wrapper filled with marijuana, the release said.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A Gerrardstown, W.Va., man has been charged in the theft of approximately $80,000 worth of jewelry from Kmart on Apple Harvest Drive, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department. Bobby Lee Jenkins, 31, was charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny, and was being held Thursday at Eastern Regional Jail, according to a news release. The theft at Kmart occurred Aug. 24 and involved items like tennis bracelets, and gold and diamond rings, Cpl. Chris McCulley said.

HAGERSTOWN - Several thousand dollars' worth of jewelry was stolen in a burglary early Thursday at the Kmart at 1713 Massey Boulevard, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Deputies responded to the alarm at 12:50 a.m. The store's glass front door had been broken and the jewelry cases had been smashed, the release said. The burglar was wearing blue jeans and a black hooded jacket with a dark T-shirt underneath, the release said. Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to contact Det. Casey Barnes at 240-313-2885.

WILLIAMSPORT -- As of midafternoon Sunday, the Washington County Sheriff's Department was still looking for a burglar who stole jewelry from a Williamsport home on Wednesday. The sheriff's department said in a news release that the burglary happened between 11 a.m. and noon Aug. 12 on Mosby Drive near Williamsport. Someone broke in and stole a gold and crystal pin, two jade bracelets, a wooden animal necklace, colored glass jewelry, and gold bracelets and necklaces, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - When Barry Bumbaugh's wife, Rachel, came home from a Pennsylvania craft fair two years ago with a decorative piece of hypertufa, and told him how much she paid for it, Bumbaugh decided he could do better. Hypertufa is artificial stone made from a mixture of cement, peat moss and perlite. It is lighter in weight than typical stone or concrete and is used to make garden decorations or borders. The Bumbaughs' Mont Alto, Pa., yard now features several hypertufa decorations and a garden border of hypertufa bricks.

The American Red Cross of Washington County is sponsoring an antique and appraisal treasure hunt Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the organization's headquarters at 1131 Conrad Court in Hagerstown. The event will include 18 to 20 flea market dealers, Valley Art Association artists displaying their work for sale and a classic car show by Hub City Cruisers. Caricaturist Kent Roberts will be available from 9 a.m. to noon.; an auction by Elwood Auctioneering is planned for 11 a.m.; and barbecued chicken by George Rowe of Clear Spring will be available.
