Brandon Lee Barrett, 18, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, W.Va. The service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Rosedale Cemetery.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Morgan County.

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- A woman shot in the head Friday night at a McCoy's Ferry Road home has been released from Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., but her husband remains hospitalized, Berkeley County Sheriff's Department Deputy Lt. Gary Harmison said Sunday. Harmison, who said he wasn't prepared to release the victims' names, said the man, who is in his late 50s, was improving and should be released soon. "We haven't really established a motive yet," the sheriff's deputy said of the 8 p.m. shooting with a small-caliber weapon.

RANSON, W.Va. -- A man died Monday at a Virginia hospital from injuries he received Saturday evening in a bicycle accident in Ranson, Ranson Police Chief William "Bill" Roper said. The man was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., after he wrecked the bicycle in the 500 block of 11th Avenue, Roper said. The victim, believed to be 33 years old, apparently attempted to make the bike jump while on a ramp and crashed in what Roper described as "kind of a freak accident.
