CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Franklin County jury took about two hours Monday to convict a Mercersburg, Pa., man of beating and raping his pregnant ex-girlfriend. Judge Carol Van Horn revoked the $500,000 bail for 21-year-old Marcus Riley after the jury found him guilty of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent assault, simple assault, criminal trespass and burglary in a Jan. 17 incident at her home near St. Thomas, Pa. He also was found guilty of simple assault in a Nov. 12, 2007, assault on the woman.

A Waynesboro man has been criminally charged after allegedly serving alcohol to a girl and sexually assaulting her. Michael Helman, 48, of 111 E. North St., is charged with one count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault, and two counts of corruption of minors, Waynesboro police said in a news release. Police said a female juvenile told them Feb. 13 that a man served her alcohol and sexually assaulted her. Helman used a bondsman to post $100,000 bail to be released from the Franklin County (Pa.)

chambersburg@herald-mail.com CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -An abused child who grew up to be a child abuser, Luke Feitner will have the designation of sexually violent predator follow him for the rest of his life. Feitner, 29, of 5842 Tick Ridge Road in Waynesboro, Pa., was sentenced to 31/2 to 10 years in state prison and will be subject to the community notification of Pennsylvania's version of Megan's Law as long as he lives. "He was on parole for a substantially similar event when this event occurred," Assistant District Attorney Nancy Meyers told Judge John R. Walker prior to sentencing.

CHAMBERSBURG, PA. - A suspended Franklin County Sheriff's Office security guard charged with indecent assault against a girl waived his preliminary hearing Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Richard Alloway. Nasby Ellsworth Bowen, 66, of 3306 Etter Road, is also charged with corruption of a minor in the incidents, which Pennsylvania State Police said happened at Bowen's home about 12 to 15 times between 2000 and 2004. Police filed the charges in February. Bowen is the second county security guard charged with a sexual crime involving a child.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Chambersburg man charged with indecent assault against his mother in a nursing home was ordered bound over for trial following a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Franklin County Central Court. The 50-year-old man was charged by Pennsylvania State Police with first-degree misdemeanor indecent assault against a person incapable of giving consent because of a mental disability and a second-degree misdemeanor charge of indecent assault without consent. The more serious charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A former Franklin County security guard charged with indecent assault involving a 3-year-old boy was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program Wednesday in Franklin County Court. Raymond E. Rotz, 68, of Chambersburg, was placed on the ARD program for 18 months by Judge Carol Van Horn, who also ordered him to undergo a mental health evaluation and any treatment deemed necessary. Rotz will be under the supervision of the Probation Department's sexual offenders officer and can have no contact with either the victim or unsupervised contact with any minor, Van Horn said.

A Franklin County, Pa., jury last week found Johnny Ray Sumner Jr., 21, guilty of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and four other charges. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 14, according to a news release from the Franklin County (Pa.) District Attorney’s Office. Sumner, whose residence is listed as Chambersburg in court documents, was accused of raping a 6-year-old girl at a homeless shelter. He also was accused of other sexual offenses, the release said.

A Fayetteville man was charged Wednesday with several sex crimes that allegedly involved a girl and a woman last year in Greene and Letterkenny townships, Pennsylvania State Police said. Cody M. Roberts, 21, was charged with indecent assault and criminal attempt/aggravated indecent assault for his alleged involvement with a 15-year-old girl; and criminal attempt/rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault and indecent assault for his alleged involvement with a 20-year-old woman, according to a state police press release.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Hamilton Township man twice convicted of indecent assault has been charged with raping a woman Monday night in her home, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Carl Eugene Henry, 24, of 1069 Lincoln Way West, Lot 6, was also charged with aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and unlawful restraint. He was arraigned before District Justice David Hawbaker and taken to Franklin County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bond. Henry had not posted bond as of Tuesday night, according to a prison officer.

A Fulton County, Pa., man has been charged with sexually abusing a girl multiple times over the course of the last 2 1/2 years, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Warren David Kerlin III, 50, of Burnt Cabins, Pa., is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent assault and other related offenses, according to a state police news release. Troopers allege Kerlin sexually assaulted the girl over the course of the last 2 1/2 years in Dublin Township.

A Greencastle, Pa., man has been charged with sexually abusing a teenage girl earlier this year, Pennsylvania State Police said. Caleb Miller Koons, 21, was charged with statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault, according to a state police news release that was provided Thursday. Troopers alleged that Koons and a girl who was younger than 16 engaged in a sexual encounter sometime between May 25 and June 22 at an unspecified location in McConnellsburg in Fulton County, Pa.

A Hagerstown man charged earlier this month with breaking into and vandalizing his former apartment was back in Washington County District Court Monday, accused this time of raping a preteen girl. Ryan Lee Kleckner, 30, of 10806 Rosewood Drive, was being held without bond on charges of first- and second-degree rape, second-degree sex offense, indecent exposure and indecent assault. District Judge Ralph H. France II ordered Kleckner to remain in jail without bond following a bail-review hearing Monday.

Three sought after police search homes MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Police said they are looking for three individuals after they searched two homes on West Burke Street Thursday as part of an ongoing drug investigation. Martinsburg Police Department officers searched 120 W. Burke St. and 122 W. Burke St., which are in the same building, according to a news release. A small amount of marijuana, paraphernalia, a small caliber pistol and a stun gun were found, the release said.

A St. Thomas, Pa., man has been charged with sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy, Pennsylvania State Police said. Albert Raiber, 60, of St. Thomas, was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure, corruption of minors, simple assault and false imprisonment, according to a state police news release. Troopers said the parents of the 12-year-old told state police in Chambersburg that Raiber had sexually assaulted the boy. The crimes were alleged to have occurred from Dec. 19-31 in a home.

A Williamsport man with convictions in Maryland and Pennsylvania for sexually assaulting boys has been accused of sexually molesting another child, according to Washington County District Court records. David Shawn Ardinger, 46, of 11310 Sword Road is charged with 48 counts, including a dozen each of sex abuse of a minor, third-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault, the court records said. He appeared Tuesday in District Court via closed-circuit television from the Washington County Detention Center for a bond review hearing, during which Judge Mark D. Thomas ordered him held without bail.
