"To all of you that say you're an anti-war protester but not an anti-soldier protester I would like to tell you how wrong you are. As a military member it is my view and the majority of military members I know is that if you're against the war you're against us. By not supporting the war, you are in fact not supporting what we are doing in Iraq. What you are telling us is we should not be there and all the deaths of military members have been for nothing. That is how military members feel about your anti-war protests.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Lebanon, Pa., man was sentenced this week to six to 23 1/2 months in Franklin County Prison for illegally accessing the Web mail accounts of Penn State University students. Edward Barrenechea, 29, was sentenced Wednesday by Franklin County Judge Richard J. Walsh on two counts of identity theft, according to court records. In addition to the jail time, he received three years of probation. According to the affidavit of probable cause, a student at the Penn State Mont Alto campus reported to campus police that her Web mail account had been accessed and the password changed.

BOONSBORO - A Boonsboro resident received a check for $1,998.75 in the mail as part of an apparent identity-theft scam first reported to police in Minnesota. According to the Boonsboro Police Department, a letter from the International Clearing Commission House enclosed with the check told the recipient that he or she would receive a $50,000 prize for cashing the check. The check was drawn on the account of Meagher & Geer Attorneys at Law in Minneapolis. The firm has advised that this is a case of identity theft, according to police.

The Hagerstown Community College Center for Continuing Education will offer a program for administrative professionals. The annual event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at HCC Valley Mall Center. Seminar topics include professional relationships, goal setting, computer tips, identity theft, exercise and stress relief. The event includes a seated massage, complimentary luncheon, flower-arranging demonstration, vendor demonstrations and door prizes.

Fred Burton, an expert on identity theft prevention, will present the program to be held at UAW Local 171 Hall at 18131 Maugans Ave. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m., according to a prepared release. A Hancock woman charged with identity theft was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months at the Washington County Detention Center, according to documents. Brandy Jo Allen, of 13916 Orchard Ridge Road, who was known as Brandy Jo Morgan at the time of her arrest, pleaded guilty to fraud by identity theft stemming from a May incident, according to Washington County District Court charging documents. Her boyfriend at the time, Matthew Gerald Allen, also of 13916 Orchard Ridge Road, failed to appear in court Wednesday, and a warrant was issued for his arrest, documents state.
