The Hagerstown Ice and Sports Complex invites boys and girls ages 4 to 9 to the ice rink Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for a Try Hockey for Free clinic to experience ice hockey for the first time and learn the basics of the sport in a fun, safe environment. Please arrive by 10 a.m. The event is part of Come Play Hockey Month. The program, designed to provide youth hockey associations a national platform to introduce children to the sport, is a joint effort between USA Hockey, the National Hockey League and NHL member clubs.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Shepherd 77, Cheyney 65 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Krissy Grosselin led all scorers with 18 points, while Camille Wilmer added 17 to lead Shepherd past Cheyney 77-65 Wednesday for the Rams' first victory of the season. Katie Warehime had 11 points and nine rebounds, Anna Kauffman added 11 points and eight boards and Jerica Hewett recorded nine assists for the Rams (1-2). Sarah J. Keller, 13, of Big Pool, was named Youth of the Month for March by the Washington County Commissioners. Keller, an eighth-grader at Clear Spring Middle School, told the commissioners Tuesday that she might want to become a physicist or astronomer. She thanked her parents and teachers for helping her "become the person I am. " County CommisCsioners President Gregory I. Snook thanked Keller for her involvement in the community. She has been on the honor roll for the past three years and is a member of the Student Senate.

OCT. 30, 1915-MAY 24, 2009 PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Warren Edward Dexter, 93, of Port Charlotte, formerly of Taunton, Mass., and Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, May 24, 2009. Mr. Dexter was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Taunton, Mass., to George and Clara (Brown) Dexter, and retired to Punta Gorda, Fla., with his wife, Norma, in 1987. He was a cadet at Taunton High School, and enjoyed baseball and ice hockey. Warren served in World War II in the Army Signal Corps, head of all communications and radar in California.
