ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A 28-year-old woman in Orange County stabbed her husband during a fight that sparked over having hot dogs for dinner, according to a sheriff's office report. Officers said the woman apparently had prepared a dinner for her husband that consisted of hot dogs. At some point, the man snatched the plate of hot dogs from his wife's hands, the report said. The action prompted the woman to stab her husband in the shoulder with a steak knife, according to authorities.

The public is invited to Buck Night at the L. Beard Miller Memorial Swimming Pool on Friday at Byron Memorial Park, according to a town official. Admission to the pool during the event, being held from 6  to 10 p.m., will cost $1. Hamburgers, hot dogs, water and sodas will be sold for $1 each, Town Clerk/Treasurer Donnie Stotelmyer said. A DJ will provide entertainment, Stotelmyer said.

Tickets cost $45 per person. The deadline to buy tickets is Sept. 6. The menu includes crabs, chicken, crab soup, hot dogs, coleslaw, corn on the cob, snacks, water, iced tea and keg beer. HANCOCK, Md. - Mountain State Cruisers will present its Father's Day Car & Truck Show Sunday, June 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Widmyer Park, East Main Street, Hancock. Entry fee is donations only. There will be awards for Best of Show, Top 20 and for the oldest father with a vehicle registered. There will be '50s, '60s and '70s music with hamburgers, hot dogs, cold drinks and ice cream available. The show will benefit the Interfaith Service Coalition of Hancock. The coalition's mission is to assist individuals and families in need regardless of race, religious belief, national origin, gender, age, handicap or political affiliation.

Steak feed Clear Spring American Legion will hold a steak feed Friday at 6 p.m. at the picnic grounds.  Tickets cost $16 and are available in advance at the Legion bar. There will be a limited number of tickets sold.  Proceeds will be used to benefit veterans and youth programs.   School picnic Blair's Valley First Church of God will hold its annual Sunday school picnic Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The picnic will be held at Clopper's Grove on Blair's Valley Road.  There will be special music by Ashes 2 Ashes, beginning at 11:30 a.m.  There also will be hand-dipped ice cream from the Clear Spring Creamery, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and drinks.

I have to admit something here. Last Thursday just felt like another day to me. It was the Fourth of July and I just wasn't with it. I can read a calendar, but it felt like it was Saturday, not Thursday. My schedule didn't convince me. I worked on Thursday … but I work a lot of Saturdays, too. I grew up like every other kid. I studied American history. I've been at a barbeque or two. And I've seen more than a few bottle rockets in my lifetime. The fourth day in July is significant.

The Waynesboro Summer Jubilee Committee is actively preparing for its 17th annual patriotic celebration to be held on the Fourth of July on the grounds across from Waynesboro Hospital. This year's festivities will be highlighted by local musical entertainment from the Drew Adams Project from 4 to 6 p.m. and Lucky Punk at 7 p.m. All entertainment is free. The Firecracker 5K Run also will take place in conjunction with the Summer Jubilee. The 5K run will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the children's 1-mile fun run will begin at 8 a.m. Registration forms for the races are available at the Waynesboro Area YMCA, the Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce and on the Summer Jubilee website, www.summerjubilee.org.

The Clear Spring High School Future Business Leaders of America will hold its second scholarship fundraiser today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jersey Mikes at the Shoppes at Hagerstown near Best Buy and Chipotle. All profits will support scholarships for the senior class at CSHS. Country butchering Wilson Ruritan will hold a country butchering and pancake breakfast Saturday, beginning at 6:30 a.m.  The club is west of Huyetts Crossroads on U.S. 40. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes with one serving of puddin' or sausage patty or sausage gravy, coffee and orange juice.  The breakfast costs $4.50.

The ninth annual Pooch Plunge at Potterfield Pool will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Claude M. Potterfield Pool, 730 Frederick St. in Hagerstown.
