Alma Victoria Simpson-Hollinger, 92, of Clear Spring, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at home surrounded by her family and friends. Born May 17, 1920, in Ridgeley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Emma Beale. Alma was a professional dancer and worked for the Pony Express, Statton Furniture and Neikirk's Wallcovering. She was a volunteer for Hospice. She was a member of Berean Bible Fellowship. Alma enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Alma is survived by her son, John Drew Simpson of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and his wife, Laurie; daughter, Marsha Lynn Miller of Clear Spring and her husband, Mark; stepdaughter, Sarah Hollinger of Raleigh, N.C., and her husband, Rusty; stepson, Denny Hollinger of Hagerstown, Md., and his wife, Melanie; stepson, Donnie Hollinger of Michigan; grandson, Jay Simpson and his wife, Carla, of Maryland; granddaughter, Jessica Klick and her husband, Tim, of Hagerstown; granddaughter, Courtney Reese and her husband, Joey, of Hagerstown; grandson, Joseph Miller of Clear Spring; grandson, Patrick Simpson of South Carolina; granddaughter, Autumn Simpson of Berkeley Springs; granddaughter, Haley Simpson of Berkeley Springs; grandson, Scottie Simpson of Berkeley Springs; granddaughters, Anna Hood and Beth Hood, and grandsons, Mark Hood and John Hood, all of Raleigh, N.C.; granddaughter, Rebecca Darling and her husband, John, of Michigan; grandson, Raymond Hollinger of Michigan; several nieces and nephews;...

Robert Lee Myers died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, while under the compassionate care of hospice.  Born near Chewsville, Md., he was the son of the late Wilbur Cleveland Myers and Elnora L. Stouffer Myers. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth M. (Sterling) Myers; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa S. Myers and Max A. Cacas of Arlington, Va.; sisters, Ruth (Glen) Fox of Williamsport, Md., June Alford and Marie (Ronnie) Harshman, both of Hagerstown, Md., and Chris (Stanley) Mullendore of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and brother-in-law, Jack Hoch of Hagerstown.

Registration is now open for the Hospice of Washington County Spring 5K taking place on April 20 at Martin L. “Marty” Snook Memorial Park in Halfway.  Those interested can register to participate in the race or participate and raise funds for Hospice.  Those choosing to register and raise funds will have the opportunity to raise funds to earn a race-day shirt with the name of their loved one who they are walking or running to remember printed...

Alberta Zepko, 86, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Berkeley Springs. The service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Chaplain Stephon Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

Edward Lee “Papaw” Foster, 74, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Saturday, Feb. 2. 2013, at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs. The service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. It is a local chapter of Business Network International, or BNI, whose mission is to help members increase their business through a structured, positive and professional word-of-mouth referral program that enables them to develop long-term, meaningful relationships with local business professionals. The revenue generated by the chapter members as a direct result of referrals is tracked each week. Jacob “Jake” Joseph Nave, age 74, Hagerstown, Md., died peacefully at his home on Jan. 9, 2013. Born Sept. 22, 1938, in Hagerstown, he was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Albertus “Red” Nave, and mother, Frieda Constance (Nave) Gluck. He is survived by daughters, Teresa Burkhart, Diana Nave and Kathy Shoemaker, all of Hagerstown; one brother, Richard Nave; and one sister, Virginia Kinter, both from Hagerstown. He had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his fiancé of 29 years, Patricia Saunders, Hagerstown.
