An honor guard from Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 is reflected in the mirrored window of a new addition to the Chambersburg YMCA during a dedication Sunday in Chambersburg, Pa. The expansion and renovation of the building celebrated Sunday cost $1.5 million.

The City of Hagerstown is holding a Flag Day ceremony on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the southwest corner of Public Square near the Peoples building, according to Karen Giffin, city spokeswoman. Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II and Miss Maryland are expected to attend the ceremony. Also on hand will be members of the Municipal Band and the Hagerstown City Police Department's honor guard.

A graveside service will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Browns Mill Cemetery, Kauffman's Station, Antrim Township, Pa., with Pastor Alan Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa. The service will be private and at the convenience of the family. On Sept. 11, Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 in Funkstown held its 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony with speeches, prayers, a moment of silence and the playing of taps for the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The Vietnam Veterans Last Man's Club provided the honor guard. The ceremony was held before the opening of Post 211's annual membership picnic.
