Myrtle Mae Stanfield White, 101, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Homewood at Williamsport. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va. The service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home.

Joan Taylor McCauley, 81, of 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, died Friday, Aug 17, 2012, at Homewood at Williamsport. A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Williamsport. The Revs. Norman G. Price and Mark Sandell will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Virginia Barrett, 88, of Shanghai, W.Va., died Friday, May 25, 2012, at Homewood of Williamsport (Md.). The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood, W.Va., and Tuesday one hour before the service at Central Chapel Church, Ganotown, W.Va. The service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Central Chapel Cemetery.

Olen Collis Brake, Sr., 95, of Williamsport, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Homewood at Williamsport. Born Dec. 10, 1916, in Escambia County, Ala., he was the son of the late Alton Brake and Lizzy (Barnecastle) Adams. He was a member of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Alabama. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Louise “Jinny” (Martin) Brake, who died on Nov. 8, 2010, and a sister, Dora Lambert, of Mobile, Ala. He retired from the U.S. Air Forceafter a combined 30 years and 6 months of service in the U.S. Army and the Air Force.

Harry Raymond "Mike" Monninger Jr., 85, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Homewood at Williamsport. Born April 14, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Harry Sr. and Edna M. (Daley) Monninger. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he received Pacific and American Theater Medals, Philippine Liberation Ribbons and a Victory Medal. He went back to graduate after the war in 1948 from Hagerstown High School. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 42 Morris Frock of Hagerstown and a former member of the Hagerstown Elks.

Pansy Mangold McIntyre, 101, passed away at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown on March 13, 2012.  Born in Keyser, W.Va., on Nov. 20, 1910, she was a 1929 graduate of Bruce High School, Westernport, Md. A retired registered nurse, she graduated from Cumberland Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1932. She was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church. She was a 37-year member of a Johns Hopkins School of Public Health longevity study. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, J. Milton McIntyre, in 2005; son, Dr. John M. McIntyre, in 2009; her sisters, Ethel, Lola and Verna; and her brother, Howard.  She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Bowman and M. Sue Robertson; daughter-in-law, Nancy Whitworth McIntyre; sons-in-law, Broadus M. Bowman and Gordon C. Robertson; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.   Family members will gather at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.Va., on Saturday, March 17, from 11 a.m. to noon for visitation.

Helen Clark recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at Homewood at Williamsport. She lives in an independent-living apartment at Homewood, where she enjoys hobbies such as knitting, embroidery and crossword puzzles.   Clark was born Jan. 4, 1912, in Jersey City, N.J., and was the third child of six in her family. She recalls many important events throughout her life and vividly remembers the headline “Lusitania Ship Sinks.”  She also remembers a trip she took with her grandmother when she was 5 years old.  Her uncle was a sailor going to Germany during World War I and they stood along the Hudson River to wave as his ship passed.

Norvelle H. Beatty, 98, resident of Hampton, Va., until the early 1990s, died on Dec. 28, 2011 at Homewood at Crumland Farm's Health Care Center in Frederick, Md. Before moving to Williamsport, Md., from Hampton, Mrs. Beatty lived in Hampton on two separate occasions - first when her husband, the late Webster Barton Beatty Jr. was appointed Public Relations Director for Hampton Institute, 1947 to 1957, when he left Hampton University to join the staff...

Wilhelmina McClain Smith, 87, of 17502 York Road, Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Homewood at Williamsport. To all who were blessed to make her acquaintance, "Willie" was an angel. Selfless, compassionate, and patient with all, she was always honest and true with God's plan in mind. All of her family and friends are better people, having known her. Just by being near her, her light would shine on you and brighten your spirit. Her love is eternal. She was a Christian, a child of God, and truly did his will and has earned her reward now in Heaven.
