Robert Lee "Bob" Flora, 86, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Williamsport, Md., passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Williamsport Retirement Village, Williamsport. Born Sept. 30, 1926, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Preston Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Swope Flora. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leila Virginia Good Flora, in 2011. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School, Williamsport. He was employed by the Maryland Correctional Training Center of Hagerstown until retiring in 1986.

Joseph "Jay" Michael Sullivan, 25, of Hedgesville, W.Va., died Friday, July 5, 2013, as the result of an automobile accident. The family will receive friends Sunday one hour before the service at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va. The service with military honors will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Two men and a 17-year-old boy died Friday after the pickup truck they were riding in crashed into a tree west of Hedgesville, Berkeley County Sheriff Kenneth Lemaster said. A woman and her two young boys, who also were riding in the truck, were taken to hospitals after the crash, which occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Conservation Drive, deputies said. The crash site is more than two miles from W.Va. 9 off Camp Frame Road. The names of the deceased, who were pronounced dead at the scene, were not immediately released pending notification of family members.

Dorothy Marie Anthony, 83, of Hedgesville, W.Va., died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial prayers will be said at Green Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va.

A Hedgesville, W.Va., man charged with robbing the Walgreens store in Martinsburg on June 22 was arraigned Thursday on additional charges related to his alleged attempt to flee from police after the incident. Jesse Lee Gibson, 27, was arraigned by Berkeley County Magistrate Betty Jo Hersh on single felony counts of fleeing in a vehicle with reckless indifference, attempted malicious wounding and fleeing in a vehicle causing injury, according to magistrate court documents. Gibson also was arraigned on misdemeanor counts of driving while revoked for driving under the influence, obstructing, fleeing on foot, failure to obey traffic signal, no proof of insurance and fleeing in a vehicle causing damage, the court documents said.

A Hedgesville, W.Va., man has been charged in five pharmacy robbery cases in Berkeley and Washington counties in the last six months, according to court documents. Jesse Lee Gibson, 27, was arraigned Wednesday by Berkeley County Magistrate Harry L. Snow on one count of robbery in connection with the June 18 holdup at Moore's Pharmacy in Old Courthouse Square shopping plaza in Martinsburg. Snow set a $100,000 cash-only bond for Gibson, who was being held Wednesday night in Eastern Regional Jail, according to court and jail records.

A Hedgesville, W.Va., man who allegedly tried to rob a Martinsburg, W.Va., drug store with an explosive device Saturday morning was captured after he led police on a chase that ended on Interstate 81 when he crashed into a concrete barrier, according to the Martinsburg Police Department. Jesse Lee Gibson, 27, of Oak Grove School Road, was charged with attempted robbery, police said in a news release. Police said a man entered the Walgreens drug store on Edwin Miller Boulevard at about 7 a.m. Saturday and tried to get narcotics by telling employees he had an explosive device that he could detonate with a cellphone.
