AUG. 18, 1960-JULY 28, 2007 BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Dennis Wayne Weese, 46, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, July 28, 2007, as a result of a motorcycle accident. Born Aug. 18, 1960, in Providence, Md., he was the son of Leonard Francis and Lydia Lee Weese of Berkeley Springs. He attended public schools. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Lydia M. Weese of Berkeley Springs; and one brother, Leonard E. Weese of Berkeley Springs.

Dawn Louise Willard and Steven David Harbaugh were married Sept. 27, 2008, at Mt. Pleasant Church of God in Smithsburg. The bride is the daughter of Jesse Willard of Sabillasville, Md., and Betty and John Pike of Martinsburg, W.Va. She is a 2000 graduate of Catoctin High School and a 2001 graduate of Award Beauty School. She is employed as a hair stylist at Holiday Hair in Hagerstown. The bridegroom is the son of David and Tammy Harbaugh of Thurmont. He is a 1999 graduate of Catoctin High School.

The Cumberland Valley Technology Center, the education division of the Cumberland Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, is accepting applications for apprenticeship, craft training, maintenance, upgrade and industrial classes. The center offers training in carpentry, electrical, HVAC-R, roofing, plumbing, welding, pipefitting, sprinklerfitting, sheet metal, heavy equipment operator, ironworker, concrete finishing/cement mason, masonry, painter and insulation. The program is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, the Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia Apprenticeship and Training Councils and the Veterans Administration.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. - A Charles Town, W.Va., man was killed Wednesday when his pickup truck went off the road in Loudoun County, Va., police said. James Dewey Coates, 49, was driving west on Va. 7, in the west end of the county, Virginia State Police Trooper Jeff Foutz said. At about 6:30 p.m., Coates' 2005 Ford Ranger went off the road to the left, near Stoneleigh Drive. Coates overcorrected when he tried to turn back onto the road, causing his truck to flip several times, Foutz said.

MARCH 28, 1966-AUG. 2, 2007 HANCOCK - John A. Smith, 41, of Quaker Creek, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at his home. Born March 28, 1966, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of John B. Smith of Hancock and the late June H. Creek Smith. He was employed by C. William Hetzer, as a heavy equipment operator. He attended Hancock Church of God. In addition to his father, he is survived by one sister, Debbie Dawson of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; and two brothers, Eddie Smith of Big Pool and Brad Smith of Hancock.

Annapolis - If not for the support of his family, Tony Dattilio of Hagerstown told a Senate committee he would be living in a nursing home since suffering a traumatic brain injury nine years ago. Dattilio and others asked the committee to pass legislation to raise money for people like himself who are struggling with their injuries. A proposal before the General Assembly would increase court fees on a traffic citation from $3 to $7. The money raised would be used to help those with traumatic brain injuries become productive members of society.

Born Jan. 31, 1935, in Coalswood, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Howard and Martha Irene Phipps Rutherford, and widower of Mildred E. Wagg Rutherford. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was of Protestant faith. He was a retired heavy equipment operator working out of IUE Local 37, Baltimore, Md. He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Turner, Hancock, Karen Pittman, Hagerstown, and Deb Ebersole, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.; two sisters, Margaret Cox and Margie Anderson, both of Independence, Va.; two brothers, Howard Rutherford, Grassy Creek, N.C., and Robert Rutherford, Columbus, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Brian, Nathan, Jacob, Laurence, Tom, Chris and Scott; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Chilcote, 78, of the Village of Laurel Run, and formerly of Grant Shook Road in Greencastle, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at the nursing home. Born Feb. 1, 1930, in Orbisonia, Pa., he was the son of the late Herman P. and Mabel P. Jacka Chilcote. He served in U.S. Army during World War II. He later served in the National Guard. He was employed for more than 30 years by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., as a heavy equipment operator in the maintenance department.

Born Feb. 16, 1936, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Claude W. and Geraldine Elizabeth Sipes Truax. He attended Hancock area schools. He was a heavy equipment operator, a member of Operator's Engineer Local 37 of Baltimore, Md. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hancock.

JULY 10, 1925-APRIL 12, 2011 George Frederick "Fred" McGolerick, 85, of Keedysville, Md., died on Tuesday April 12, 2011, at his home. Born on July 10, 1925, in Garretts Mills, Md., he was the son of the late Emory Carlton and Freida Mae (Mirely) McGolerick. His wife, Evelyn Louise (Holmes) McGolerick, preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 2005. Fred was employed for 41 years as a heavy equipment operator with Lone Star Cement Co. in Hagerstown. Fred loved to hunt and bowl.
