Waynesboro Area Senior High School will present "Guys and Dolls" Friday through Sunday as this year's all-school production. Based on the "Idyll of Sarah Brown" by Damon Runyon and set in his mythical New York City, the plot showcases the characters Sarah Brown (Rebecca Reed), the "mission doll" who is out to reform the lowlife on Times Square, and Sky Masterson (Mat Levine), the smooth, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love. CLEAR SPRING - Excitement is running high as the Clear Spring High School Drama Club gears up for its presentation of "Guys and Dolls" April 3 to 5. Performances on April 3 and 4 will begin at 7:30 p.m. On April 5, the show is at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $6 for students. "Guys and Dolls" is based on the story and characters of Damon Runyon, and features the music of Frank Loesser. It opened on Broadway in November 1950, winning eight Tony awards and garnering rave reviews.

HCC lauded for online offerings Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education was cited in March as one of the top 25 providers of online courses by ed2go, a national supplier of online training. HCC was ranked 21st out of 1,200 partners offering online classes. "Online offerings from continuing education have become an important staple for the adult learner, as well as the corporate client," according to Jim Cannon, director of continuing education and extension services.

MARTINSBURG W.Va. -Two years ago, producer Jaime Donegan was at a New York casting call when a man he described as "big, buff and bald" started walking toward him. The man asked Donegan if he was Jaime Donegan before throwing his arms around Donegan, lifting him from the ground and smiling. "You were my first director, at the Apollo," the stranger told Donegan. "You're the one who introduced me to Shakespeare. " This is how Donegan really knew he made a difference as a director years ago at Apollo Civic Theatre's Youth Summer Theatre Workshop, the theater's six-week program for aspiring youth actors.
