SCOTLAND, Pa. ? Pennsylvania State Police were investigating an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Comfort Inn, 3301 Black Gap Road. Police said a masked gunman entered the hotel shortly before 3 p.m. and demanded cash from the victim, a 45-year-old Chambersburg, Pa., woman, and fled. The report did not indicate if the woman was a hotel employee or guest. Armed with a handgun, the man was described by police as about 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a mask with cutouts for the eyes and mouth.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A masked gunman held up the Pizza Hut at 928 Lincoln Way East Monday night, according to the Chambersburg Police Department. The robbery was called in at 7:53 p.m., police said. The man entered the restaurant armed with a handgun and ordered employees to put money from the cash register in a bag. The man fled southeast toward Washington Street Extended, police said. The man was white, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall and wore a white hooded sweat shirt and baggy jeans, police said.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Authorities are looking for a man who brandished a semiautomatic handgun when he robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store off East Washington Street near Charles Town Tuesday at 1:22 a.m. The black male suspect was more than 6 feet tall with a slender to medium build, according to Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Detective Steve Holz. Dressed in dark clothing and wearing a ski mask and hat, the robber did not actually point the gun at the clerk, who complied with the robber's demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of money from the register.

The Hagerstown Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that happened Saturday afternoon at Dick's Market, Sgt. John Lehman said in a press release. The robbery happened about 3:20 p.m. at the market at 895 Salem Ave., Lehman said. A man entered the store with a handgun, demanding money, and took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register, then fled, Lehman said. No one was injured during the incident, he said. The robber was described as a tall black man with a slender build, wearing a blue and gray sweat suit and a blue ski mask, Lehman said.

WASHINGTON -- An elderly gunman, said by authorities to have a violent and virulently anti-Semitic past, stepped inside the crowded U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum on Wednesday, opened fire with a rifle and fatally wounded a security guard before being shot by other officers. The assailant was hospitalized in critical condition, leaving behind a sprawling investigation by federal and local law enforcement and expressions of shock from the Israeli government and a prominent Muslim organization.

A 29-year-old Hagerstown man was shot in the lower leg at 11:23 p.m. Thursday on a Washington Gardens Apartments walkway, Hagerstown Police Department Sgt. Paul Kifer said. The victim sustained non- life-threatening injuries in the shooting, which was reportedly in front of 1006 Security Road, he said. Police are still searching for the gunman, Kifer said. He said the gunman was described as a black man, who was about 5 feet 9 inches tall. The alleged shooter was in his late 20s to early 30s, he said.

FREDERICK, Md. - A body was discovered Tuesday inside a liquor store where a gunman is believed to have died in a fiery standoff, according to a press release from the Frederick Police Department. The police said the body was found about 12:30 p.m. inside the locked front door of Jim's Liquors. Fire broke out at the Antietam Village Shopping Center store after police ceased communication with a gunman who entered the store Monday about 12:45 p.m. Police identified the gunman as James C. Douglas, 29, of Frederick, The press release states the Frederick Police Department and Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office were continuing the investigation into the fire.
