The North American Rod & Gun Club will hold a fishing rodeo Saturday, May 2, at 12108 Belvedere Road in Hagerstown. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and fishing begins at 10 a.m. There will be three age groups, with prizes for the largest fish caught and for participating. Free refreshments for the youngsters will be served after the rodeo. The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, call 301-739-4440.

SEPT. 30, 1956-MARCH 29, 2009 MIDDLETOWN, Md. - John William Wilson Jr., 52, of Middletown, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 30, 1956, in Frederick, he was the son of Mae Blickenstaff Wilson of Myersville, Md., and the late John W. Wilson Sr. He was employed at Trout's Lighthouse Seafood in New Market, Md. He was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville. He was a member of South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, and was a craftsman woodworker and artist.

AUG.18, 1934-MARCH 18,2009 WOLFSVILLE, Md. - Robert B. Fogle, 74, of Wolfsville, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Washington County Hospital. Born Aug. 18, 1934, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Burkhard R. and Ruth Stull Fogle. He graduated from Walkersville (Md.) High School. He retired from Frederick Motor Co. after 34 years of service. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Wolfsville, where he had served as the Sunday school superintendent and treasurer, taught the men's Sunday school class, was a member of the Board of Trustees and sang in the choir.

OCT. 7, 1925-MARCH 17, 2009 John Franklin Kreigh Sr., 83, of 17538 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Born Oct. 7, 1925, in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late Fred Spickler Kreigh and Katherine Boyd Kreigh. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Clear Spring and a 1944 graduate of Clear Spring High School. He also was a 61-year member of Medairy Lodge 140 A.F.&A.M., Ithiel Royal Arch Chapter 27, Palestine Council 16 R & S.M., St. Bernard Commandery 9 K.T., Ali Ghan Temple A.A.O.

OCT. 9, 1947-MARCH 10, 2009 BOONSBORO -- Warren Donald Jeffries, age 61, of El Rancho Road, Boonsboro, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at his home. Born Oct. 9, 1947, in Allegany County, Md., he was a son of Edith Marie Elliott Jeffries of Midland, Md., and the late John Henry Jeffries. Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Anilla Braidotti Jeffries, on Oct. 10, 2005. He had been employed with Mack Trucks in Hagerstown for 33 years. Warren was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Air Force.

MAY 23, 1920-JAN. 14, 2009 CHICHESTER, N.H. - Ellis Woodrow "Buck" Rhodes Sr., age 88, of Chichester, N.H., and formerly of Dam 4 Road near Sharpsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Hospice House in Concord, N.H. Born May 23, 1920, in Downsville, Md., Buck was a son of the late John Clarence and Susan Alice Wiley Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Myrtle Elizabeth Cromer Rhodes, in 1989. Buck had been employed as second shift supervisor at Maryland Ribbon Co. in Hagerstown, retiring after 44 years of service.

Born Feb. 8, 1956, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Ralph E. Baker of State Line and the late Frances Rowe Baker. He attended Waynesboro schools. He was employed by Cinetic Landis in Hagerstown. He was serving as president of Order of the Owls Nest 1073 of Waynesboro, and was a member of Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club.

DEC. 12, 1923-JAN. 13, 2009 CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Beulah C. Overcash, 85, of Chambersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at her home. Born Dec. 12, 1923, in State Line, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James Allen and Lillie Mae Shank Binkley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. Overcash, in 2003. They were married June 18, 1949. She had been employed by the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg. She attended Trinity United Church of Christ in State Line.

JULY 29, 1953-DEC. 29, 2008 HANCOCK - David Theodore Hoffman, 55, of Woodmont Road, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown. Born July 29, 1953, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Theodore Frederick and Edith Louise Landers Hoffman. He was a 1971 graduate of Hancock High School. He was a construction inspector, retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration. He was a member of the Tonoloway Rod and Gun Club in Hancock.

Born Oct. 15, 1947, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Russell T. and Helen T. Needy Bair. He graduated from North Hagerstown High School, class of 1965. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Pinkerton Security Systems and Eastalco in Frederick for 17 years. He was owner and operator of both Nelson A. Bair Excavating and Bair Pools and Supply.
