Nola Cole Wilson, 67, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012. The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg, W.Va. The service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Williamsport.

Melvin Lee Shrader, 75, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Winchester Medical Center. The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home's South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, W.Va., Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Independent Bible Church. Pastor Mark Johnson and Pastor Curt Lowry will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Williamsport, Md.

JAN. 3, 1927-NOV. 24, 2008 Violet Agnes Shipley, 81, of Hagerstown, went safely into the arms of Jesus on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at the Western Maryland Hospital Center in Hagerstown. Born on Jan. 3, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ernest D. and Agnes P. (Mongan) Lizer. Her husband, William G. Shipley, preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1985. Violet was a member of Calvary Temple in Williamsport and was a homemaker for the past 40 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

The waiting hands of the Lord have taken Betty home to be with her mother, Ruth E. Shank; her father, Gerald Shank; sister, Mary Mills; brothers, Robert Shank and Gary Shank; and her nephew, Jeffery Gerhart. Mourning her passing are daughter, Sarah Nave along with her husband, Zachary; her granddaughter, Dannielle Young and her husband, Lionel; her grandson, Andrew Reed; her sister, Patricia Gerhart; her nieces, Ruth Huff and Susan Gerhart; her nephew, David Mills; as well as her most precious great-granddaughter, Aleece.

FEB. 7, 1933-JULY 21, 2007 CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The Rev. David A. Forkey, 74, of Charles Town, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town. Born Feb. 7, 1933, in New Castle, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry and Harriet Steese Forkey. He was a minister of Assembly of God Churches for 51 years in Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. He was a graduate of Valley Forge (Pa.) Christian College. He was a member of AARP and a former member of Kiwanis Club.

Born Nov. 8, 1930, in Maugansville, Md., she was the daughter of the late George V. Williams Sr. and Mary "Carpenter" Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Charles Harvey Turner Sr., in November 1984. She was a homemaker. She is survived by six daughters, Mary E. St. Clair, Pat A. Kauffman, Betty D. Knox and Linda L. Fultz, all of Hagerstown, Susan K. Turner of Mercersburg, Pa., and Beverley Burker of Falling Waters, W.Va.

"Roy" Haynes Jr., 72 JAN. 6, 1937-FEB. 5, 2009 BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Herbert Leroy "Roy" Haynes Jr., 72, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at his home of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Born Jan. 6, 1937, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Herbert Leroy Haynes Sr. and Gladys May Voigt Haynes Johnson. He attended Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Md. For 28 years, he owned H.L. Haynes Construction in Berkeley Springs.

Alice Elizabeth Anderson Hofe, 86, of Big Pool, Md., passed peacefully at her home Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, surrounded by her family and caretaker. Born May 13, 1927, in Williamsport, Md., she was the daughter of the late Samuel I. Anderson and Grace Mae Warrenfeltz Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. Hofe, in 2001. Alice was a lifetime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport, and served with Mary Martha Circle and the Altar Guild. She was a homemaker.

Born January 17, 1942, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late John Franklin Mills Sr. and Susanna Elizabeth "Drury" Mills. He was a truck driver for Licking Creek Paving Co. of Big Pool, Md.   He was a member of the Mercersburg American Legion Post 517.   He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Lost loved ones remembered By RICHARD F. BELISLE Staff Writer Once again this Christmas, for the fourth consecutive year, more than 4,000 loved ones buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Inc. will be remembered with luminaires over their graves put there by a bunch of Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from Williamsport and other volunteers. Rocky Willis, whose husband Jeff Willis is the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 58, said about 30 Scouts and members of Cub Scout Pack 58 set out the luminaires Saturday morning.
