The cast and crew of “Grease” is gearing up for this weekend's performaces. G-AHS will present “Grease” at the high school Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $5 and will be sold at the door. Doors open to the public at 6:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday. When Sandie Collins-Keener walked into Sunnyway Foods in Greencastle, Pa., on Friday morning to grab a bag of her favorite Gibble's chips, she couldn't believe her eyes when she saw nearly empty shelves. “It's so sad. I grew up with Gibble's,” Collins-Keener of Greencastle said. “They were like a childhood mainstay.” She was one of many fans of the iconic brand who poured into Sunnyway Foods early Friday morning hoping to savor one last bag of the locally made potato chips, pretzels or cheese curls.

The Greencastle-Antrim School District is running out of space, forcing school officials to take another look at renovation plans that were shelved two years ago while the economy was in a nosedive. Superintendent C. Gregory Hoover said taking a serious look at the renovation plans is inevitable because the district is bursting at the seams. “It's one of those things that we have been putting off because of the economy. But, kids are still coming and there have to be places for them to go,” he said.

Kimberly Robinson, a Greencastle building contractor, former retirement home owner and restaurateur since August 2000, won approval Monday night to add on to her Highline Restaurant and Railway Lounge. The council voted to grant Robinson a waiver to add an $86,000 addition to the restaurant at 101 W. Washington St., described on the Internet as a “premium dining destination.” Robinson said after the meeting that she needed more room to expand the dining room and kitchen and to add a new lounge.

On what would have been Ayron Paige Metcalf's 19th birthday, family and friends released balloons to celebrate her life. The 2012 Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School graduate died in a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 81 in September. “Three. Two. One. Happy Birthday!” Ayron's family and friends said in unison as they released dozens of balloons in front of her former employer, Holiday Hair in Chambersburg on Wednesday. Ayron's workstation at Holiday Hair has not been disturbed since the accident that claimed her life.

Nancy C. (Barnhart) Minnick Dale, 73, of 13790 Molly Pitcher Highway, Lot 26, Greencastle, Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at NMS Healthcare in Hagerstown. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, Greencastle. The service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa. Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

A Greencastle tradition continues Thursday as the Rescue Hose Co. kicks off three nights of hilarity and song with its annual minstrel show. This year's show, “An Al Jolson Minstrel,” will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Greencastle-Antrim High School auditorium. Tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger. Every year, roughly 3,000 people come to listen to the end men (funny men) dressed in mismatched “hobo” clothes crack jokes on stage or listen to the 70-member chorus sing old favorites.

This year's Waynesboro Area Gala Cancer Auction is taking a hike up Pa. 16. The 32nd annual auction - which has raised nearly $2 million for the Franklin County unit of the American Cancer Society - will be held March 30 at a new location: Green Grove Gardens off Pa. 16 between Shady Grove, Pa., and Greencastle, Pa. The event was held at the Waynesboro Eagles Club for many years. This year's theme is Time for Cancer to Take a Hike. The silent auction begins at 4 p.m. and the bidding part of the night gets under way at 5:30 p.m. Jill Kessler, one of the event organizers, said this year's auction also features one of the biggest items in its history courtesy of the employees of Aero-Smith of Martinsburg, W.Va.
