Another blow to the Constitution To the editor: What a wonderful story for the holidays - "Bush signs law to move murderer's remains" (Dec. 26). And this topic has been on the front pages of Herald-Mail newspapers a dozen times over the past two years, yet no one has ever observed this is just another unconstitutional statute from this Republican administration. It doesn't matter if one agrees or disagrees with the intent of the bill. The point is that Bush has signed a statute which Attorney General Gonzales must have vetted and noted it was in violation of the ex post facto clause of the United States Constitution, which holds no law shall be passed making illegal something which occurred prior to the enactment of the statute.
