The deadline to enter the fourth annual Hancock "Our Town" 2009 photo contest and exhibit is Aug. 31. Photos may be submitted at the War Memorial Library, or at the Hancock Town Hall office. A reception for the exhibit of winning photos will be Saturday, Sept. 26. An awards presentation will be at 2 p.m. A $100 grand prize will be awarded, as well as four $25 prizes. The North Hagerstown High School Athletic Boosters Club will hold its annual bonanza at the Williamsport Fire Hall on Saturday, Jan. 24. Grand prize will be $1,000. Doors open at 4 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. A DJ follows the drawing. There will be a winner every 10th ticket. Tickets cost $35 per two people. ABC Cumberland Valley Chapter will hold a money bonanza Saturday, June 22, at Williamsport Fire Hall. The doors open at 4:30 p.m. and food will be served at 6 p.m. The grand prize will be $1,000, and the first and every 10th ticket drawn will win $40. Tickets cost $40 for two. Someone who bought a Pick 3 Lottery ticket at a Hagerstown 7-Eleven won $50,000 in the Bonus Match-up drawing Thursday, Maryland Lottery officials said Friday in a press release. Players purchasing Pick 3 tickets between June 28 and Aug. 8 with a value of $1 or more had a random chance to receive an eight-digit bonus coupon. Valid for that evening's drawing only, coupons with the last two digits matching the last two Pick 3 evening numbers drawn won $250 instantly. All Pick 3 bonus coupon numbers not matching the evening drawing numbers automatically were entered into the grand prize drawing, with prizes of $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000 being awarded, lottery officials said.

The annual Hagerstown YMCA Gala fundraiser will be Saturday, Feb. 7, at Fountain Head Country Club. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., followed by dinner and the feature grand prize drawing, your choice of one of three 2009 automobiles or a Mediterranean cruise. Tickets cost $325 per couple, available now and can be purchased from any member of the YMCA board of directors, or at the front desk of the YMCA on Eastern Boulevard in Hagerstown. The ticket entitles holder to a gourmet dinner for two and 150 chances for the grand prize drawing.

BPO Elks Lodge No. 378 at 11063 Robinwood Drive will hold a money bonanza Sunday, Feb. 8. The event is being announced early, as tickets are selling fast and the Elks Lodge wants its members and guests who have supported this fundraiser in the past to have an opportunity to get tickets. Tickets cost $25, which admits the ticket holder and one guest. There will be 31 cash prizes and the grand prize will be $3,000. There will be tip jars, King Tuts, 50/50 raffle and other games of chance.

The 22nd annual Hagerstown YMCA Gala Fundraiser will be Saturday at the Four Points Sheraton. Tickets for the Diamonds and Ice Gala are on sale and can be purchased from any member of the YMCA board of directors or at the Y's front desk. The cost is $300 per ticket, which entitles a couple to cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from 6 to 7 p.m., dinner for two, one of 200 chances for the grand prize drawing of a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta and dancing to the sounds of D.V.K. Entertainment. Prizes from local businesses and restaurants throughout the community will be given away, as well as other drawings and door prizes.

Home Chemical Safety Week officially kicked off Tuesday when the Washington County Commissioners issued the proclamation during its regularly scheduled meeting. After issuing the proclamation, the board announced the winners of the 2007 Home Chemical Safety Program Poster Contest. Open to fourth-grade students in the county, the contest judged a student's artistic representation of chemical tips learned during the safety program. About 1,000 students created posters, but only one winner was chosen from each school.
