COLLEGE BASEBALL Webb earns more honors Shepherd University senior first baseman Dirk Webb, a Hedgesville graduate, has been named to the Rawlings/ABCA NCAA Division II All-America third team. Webb, the WVIAC and North Atlantic Region Player of the Year, hit .426 with 14 home runs and 52 RBIs this spring for the 29-21 Rams. Make a donation of gently used clothing or household textiles to Horizon Goodwill Industries between today and April 7 and you will receive one coupon worth 20 percent off on purchases at the Bon Ton department store for each item donated. The event marks the fourth time Bon Ton and Horizon Goodwill have partnered in a donation drive for the nonprofit agency. A similar event was held last fall, and the department store chain is planning to hold another donation drive for the agency in September.

HAGERSTOWN - A Hagerstown woman who stole money from Horizon Goodwill Industries used it to pay tuition at her son's private Christian school, her defense attorney said Monday morning in Washington County Circuit Court. Kerri Ann Sasse, 32, pleaded guilty Monday to felony theft scheme, more than $500. Washington County Circuit Judge W. Kennedy Boone III sentenced Sasse to three years in prison, with all three years suspended. She must serve three years unsupervised probation, the judge said.

Just a few years ago, Deborah Dunnavant was homeless with few prospects. Now, she's a Horizon Goodwill success story. As Dunnavant, 35, accepted the Bennett S. Rubin Graduate of the Year Award on May 9 at the 52nd annual awards dinner at Cortland Manor, she was unable to hold back the tears. She recounted how she went from being homeless to being dishwashing supervisor at Always Ron's, a job that allows her to rent her own apartment, have her own medical insurance and most of all, gives her pride and independence.
