Theodore Richard Byrd, 88, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Cary, N.C. He moved to North Carolina from Shepherdstown, W.Va., in 2003. He was born April 16, 1924, in Porterstown, Md., the son of the late Clarence and Annie Drenner Byrd. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Virginia E. Byrd; and four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Vinitsky of Cary; his son, Richard T. Byrd of Shepherdstown; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

On the evening of Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, Berneita Myrtle Rice Moore, went to be with her Lord and Savior.  Born on Aug. 20, 1928, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of Harvey Ernest and Myrtle Jane Bingaman Rice, who preceded her in death.  Mrs. Moore was proud to have been married for 59 years to the late Rev. A couple of weeks ago, a visiting priest, the Rev. God issues warning in the book of Jude To the editor: To all of those who think God is silent concerning the sin of homosexuality, there is a Bible warning of what will happen to a society of men and women who ignore God's order for them in life. This warning and example is found in the book of Jude, verse 7. Once a society starts down the road of endorsing and sanctioning this sin of fornication, that society will suffer the vengeance of eternal fire. Do you hear God's historical warnings: politicians, judges and academics who want to cater society to their lustful pursuits?

Gabriella Peyton Mills, 1 month 18 days, of Hancock, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at her home. The service will be Saturday at Hancock Church of God on Millstone Road. The Rev. Sixteen churches in and near downtown Hagerstown will open their doors to the public Wednesday, Dec. 26, in the second annual walking tour of historic houses of worship. The idea is for churches to open their doors and share their historic structures - plus music, refreshments, holiday decorations and post-Christmas relaxation - with the public.
