PREP BASEBALL INWOOD, W.Va. - Unable to keep up with Musselman in a wind-aided game of home run derby on Tuesday afternoon, the Martinsburg baseball team turned to something that they could win at: Bingo. The Bulldogs only got one extra-base hit in the last four innings of their Class AAA Region II Section 1 elimination game with the Applemen - and still cashed in for 14 runs to win a 22-13 slugfest and advance to the sectional final. "There were a tremendous number of offensive dilemmas in this one," Martinsburg coach Dennis Etherington said.

North Hagerstown's Alex McAbee had broken from the pack in the 3-mile race over very hilly terrain and seemed in command. "I thought I had the race," he said. "Obviously, I didn't. " Glenelg's Jon Goldsmith started closing the gap on McAbee in the final few hundred meters, then turned the race into a 100-meter dash as both entered the football stadium and approached the finish line.
