GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Thomas Kinkade will visit Boyds Bear Country in Gettysburg on Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, to meet his fans and dedicate a new gallery of his paintings and reproductions. "We enjoy the idea of putting art where real people are," Kinkade said recently by phone from his office in Placerville, Calif. "I'm less inclined to put art in a museum somewhere people won't enjoy it. " Kinkade's popular paintings depict homey cottages, small-town scenes, steepled churches and other classic American scenes -- all rendered in rich colors and romantic style.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - It took a little more than a halftime speech for the Chambersburg boys basketball team to address Gettysburg. In this case, it was a case of five scored and 20 feet away for the Trojans to put forth a new determination. It started a dramatic turnaround that shot Chambersburg past the Warriors for a 74-43 victory Friday as the Trojans remained undefeated through nine games. Aaron Hill started a run of five straight Chambersburg 3-point baskets to start the second half to transform a surprisingly small 25-19 advantage into a commanding 40-23 lead by the halfway point of the third period.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Asked about his connection to Civil War Gen. George Meade, Andy Waskie responds quickly and gets a few laughs from those gathered around him. "What? I'm not Meade?" he quips. Sometimes it was difficult to make the distinction. Waskie, a professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, donned full uniform and often spoke from the first-person point of view during his presentation Thursday at the Heritage Center in Chambersburg. For almost two hours, Waskie informally took questions from five members of the public before a delayed tour group of teachers arrived.
