GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Gettysburg College will host "The Wall That Heals," a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., today through Sunday, Oct. 11. The wall is set up on the north side of Pennsylvania Hall just off 300 N. Washington St. The opening ceremony takes place at 9 a.m. today near the wall. It will be open 24 hours a day at no charge. Smith-Small Marianne Faye Smith and Robert Justin Small announce their engagement. Miss Smith is the daughter of John Smith and Carole Smith, both of Smithsburg. She is a 1997 graduate of Smithsburg High School and attends Hagerstown Community College part-time. She is employed at The Stationery House in Hagerstown. Mr. Small is the son of Robert and BJ Small of Smithsburg. He is a 2000 graduate of Smithsburg High School. He is a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, in the 157th Military Police Company in Martinsburg, W.Va.

The Rev. Robert Warren Koons, 95, of 263 Barlow St., Gettysburg, Pa., died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on All Saints Day, Nov. 1, 2012. The son of John Raymond and Kathryn Herr Koons, he was born July 11, 1917, in Altoona, Pa., and lived his early years in Harrisburg, Pa. In 1949, he married Grace Bowman of Timberville, Va. Their lives together spanned 57 years, until Grace's death at 89 in 2006. He is survived by three children, three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

MARCH 6, 1925-APRIL 12, 2010 Hubert Aldine "Hugh" Brandenburg, 85, of 500 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, Md., passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown. Born Friday, March 6, 1925, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clay K. Brandenburg and Eleanor Stine Brandenburg. He graduated in 1943 from Hagerstown High School, and went on to receive his bachelor of arts degree from Gettysburg College and his master's degree from the University of Texas.

Allan E. "Bud" Jennings, 82 JUNE 9, 1926-JAN. 29, 2009 CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Allan E. "Bud" Jennings, 82, of 3820 Lincoln Way West, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 9, 1926, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of the late H. Theodore "Ted" and Mary Eden Jennings. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Merion D. Durboraw Jennings in 1996, and his second wife, Linda Decker Jennings in 2002. He was a 1944 graduate of Chambersburg High School and a 1949 graduate of Gettysburg College.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - David Heim was named to the dean's list for the spring  semester at Gettysburg College. He just completed his freshman year and is double majoring in history and political science. The 2012 graduate of Boonsboro High School is the son of Ed and Janet Heim of Hagerstown. R. Lee Viar IV of Hagerstown participated in the 2013 Class of the Management Development Program in Higher Education at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., in June and earned a post-doctoral certificate.
