A Fulton County, Pa., man has been charged with sexually abusing a girl multiple times over the course of the last 2 1/2 years, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Warren David Kerlin III, 50, of Burnt Cabins, Pa., is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, indecent assault and other related offenses, according to a state police news release. Troopers allege Kerlin sexually assaulted the girl over the course of the last 2 1/2 years in Dublin Township.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Franklin County, Pa., dropped 0.2 percent in January to 6.5 percent, according to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. The rate in neighboring Fulton County, Pa., held steady at 8.9 percent, a dramatic decrease from its high points during the recession. Fulton County reached 16 percent unemployment in February 2009. Labor department data indicates Franklin County gained 100 nonagricultural jobs in January, reaching 57,100 nonfarm jobs in the civilian work force.

The number of confirmed cases in an E coli outbreak linked to Cowans Gap State Park is now 13, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced Tuesday. In a statement, health department officials said 11 cases involve Pennsylvania residents - six from Franklin County, four from Lancaster County and one from Huntingdon County. Two cases were confirmed in Maryland residents, officials said. All swam in the lake at Cowans Gap State Park, although the source of the bacteria has not been found.

Mercedes stolen from Fulton County barn WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - A Warfordsburg man told authorities Wednesday that someone stole a Mercedes-Benz that was parked in his barn in Fulton County, Pennsylvania State Police said. The 2000 black Mercedes-Benz ML320 was taken between 1:30 and 3 p.m. from a pole barn at 260 Locust Grove Road in Brush Creek Township, according to a state police news release. Troopers said the person who took the car fled north in the vehicle on Old Route 126. Anyone with information may call state police at 717-485-3131.

Autopsies performed in a Fulton County, Pa., murder-suicide investigation found both victims died of gunshot wounds. Tina Souders, 39, died of multiple gunshot wounds, Fulton County Coroner Berley Souders said. Her death will be listed as homicide, he said. Ricky L. Hann, 51, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Souders said. Pennsylvania State Police said Hann took Souders to a wooded area near her Cito Road home shortly before noon Sunday. He had been arrested Saturday for allegedly kidnapping her, then was released on bail.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Franklin County held steady from August to September, but it increased two-tenths of a percentage point in neighboring Fulton County, according to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. Franklin County's rate remained unchanged at 6.8 percent. Fulton County's rate worsened from 8.8 percent to 9 percent, labor department data shows. Since a year ago, Franklin County gained 1,100 jobs. Its manufacturing sector gained jobs in September and reached 8,700 jobs, the highest level since February 2009.
