The body of a 54-year-old Frederick, Md., man was pulled from the Potomac River at Point of Rocks State Park on Sunday, according to a Maryland State Police news release. Police found a suicide note in the man's home, state police said. The body was taken to the chief medical examiner's office in Baltimore to determine the cause and manner of death. A bicyclist reported seeing the body in the water along the river bank around 4 p.m. Sunday, police said. Carroll Manor Fire Co. firefighters recovered the body, which was in a cove along the river.

A Frederick, Md., man who was helping to push a disabled car in the slow lane of eastbound Interstate 70 was killed Tuesday evening when the vehicle that was being pushed was struck by another car, according to Maryland State Police . The accident was reported at 6:43 p.m., and it occurred in Washington County just west of the Frederick County line where National Pike (U.S. 40) crosses the interstate. State police said that Adam C. Gammon, 37, of Bethel Road, Frederick, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A Frederick, Md., man was found not guilty by a jury this week in Washington County Circuit Court of second-degree attempted murder, but guilty of the armed robbery of three women at Motel 6 last year. Judge Daniel P. Dwyer ordered a presentence report be prepared before sentencing for Tony Anthony Jones, 24, formerly of 1153 Orchard Terrace. In addition to three counts of armed robbery, Jones was also convicted of first-degree assault for stabbing one of the women during the May 21, 2012, incident.

A Frederick, Md., man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash between a tractor-trailer and a passenger car Friday afternoon on U.S. 340 east (Jefferson Pike) near Md. 67 (Rohrersville Road) in southern Washington County, according to a Maryland State Police news release. David James Forward, 56, of Frederick, was killed in the 5:55 p.m. crash, troopers said. Gregory Steven Givens, 31, of Yemassee, S.C., was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, troopers said.

A Frederick, Md., man told Washington County liquor officials on Wednesday that he wanted to open a restaurant at the site of the former Hot Shots Tavern on North Mulberry Street in Hagerstown. Abdul Kamara said during a hearing before the Board of License Commissioners for Washington County, known as the liquor board, that he needed a liquor license to open a franchise in the Sardi's Pollo A La Brasa restaurant chain. Sardi's is a Peruvian-style restaurant that specializes in charbroiled chicken.

A Frederick man was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 270 in Frederick County, Maryland State Police said. Peter Anthony Halpert, 47, no address given, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, police said in a news release. Police did not say where the accident occurred. Halpert was driving a 2012 Ford Escort that collided with a 2001 Ford Windstar driven by Joseph Grant, 51, of Martinsburg, W.Va., police said. Grant was listed in stable condition at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md., police said in the release.

Police are investigating a Sunday morning homicide in which a Frederick man with multiple gunshot wounds was pronounced dead at Frederick Memorial Hospital, according to a news release from the Frederick Police Department. Police identified the shooting victim as Lamont George-Lee Ellis, 36, of the 3700 block of Hope Commons Circle, according to the release. Hope Commons Circle is in the Urbana area south of Frederick. Police received a call for shots fired in the 100 block of West All Saints Street at about 1:53 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Two Hagerstown men pleaded guilty this week to the shooting of a Frederick, Md., man in November and were sentenced to one to three years in prison, Berkeley County Prosecutor Pamela Games-Neely said Tuesday. Leon William Racks, 29, and Joseph Wayne Mason, 27, entered their pleas Monday before 23rd Circuit Judge Christopher Wilkes. Their sentences were mandatory, Games-Neely said. Racks and Mason were given credit for time served, she said. The two pleaded guilty in the shooting of Kevin R. Mullen, 28, in the parking lot of Club Twisted at 5268 Williamsport Pike.

A Frederick, Md., man has been charged with breaking into his former girlfriend's Hagerstown home on Tuesday and pulling a knife on her, police said. Libni Hernandez, 18, of 1467 Key Parkway in Frederick, was charged with one count each of first-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, fourth-degree sex offense, malicious destruction of property and reckless endangerment, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.

A Frederick, Md., man was arrested Thursday in connection with a report of shots fired earlier this week, Frederick police said. Derrick Goines, 25, of the 200 block of Washington Street, is charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, police said. On July 9, police responded to the area of Hope Circle at 11:43 p.m. Officers determined that a firearm had been discharged in the area, police said. An investigation revealed Goines and a person identified as the victim knew one another and were playing basketball nearby before shots were fired, police said.
