It was Fox News that went to war with Obama To the editor: I am deeply concerned by Charles Krauthammer's column of Oct. 25 . It is dishonest to accuse the White House of going to war with Fox News. He knows better than that. It is Fox News that went to war with Obama, starting when Obama first became the Democratic candidate for president. And Fox News has been slinging mud at Obama ever since. And now that Obama decided to fight back, the right-wing conservatives accuse the administration of going after Fox News because they are "critical.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Pundits have accused him of being too conservative. Others praise him for the volumes he's written about the black experience in America. But how much does Juan Williams take in account what people think? "What do you mean? Am I sensitive?" Williams responded in a recent interview with The Herald-Mail. "I'm very comfortable with who I am. " Williams is scheduled to deliver a lecture Thursday, Feb. 19, at the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University.

"Hagerstown caller, you are demonstrably wrong when you blame Fox News for Ms. Sherrod's loss of her job because the real culprit, the Obama administration, forced her to resign before that video had even aired on Fox. The fact that they did so in such haste and without even an attempt at a proper investigation shows the poor judgment and incompetence we've seen repeatedly in his presidency. " - Frederick, Md. "I see in this morning's paper where a man pleaded guilty to transporting 166 cartons of cigarettes illegally and then tried to bribe the police officers.

“This is in regards to the caller who referred to correctional officers as prison guards. Most officers have college degrees and do a fine job.” - Hagerstown “First, I'd like to say that in my opinion, Leonard Pitts is a joke. ... It's funny that he's bashing Fox News for their facts. Wow, I guess he's never watched CNN or MSNBC, or any of the other ones that are completely liberal. Anyway, I'm not affiliated, but I think it's funny how both sides play each other, and then people ... I see the new urban growth rezoning changes.

Some on left and right refuse to listen to other side To the editor: I feel I must respond to recent letters by Ken Hollar (Jan. 13) and Andrew Williams (Jan. 6). First, to Mr. Hollar. You will find your counterpoint in the next day's Herald-Mail. For every George Michael, there is an Allan Powell. For every David Limbaugh, there is a Leonard Pitts. The Herald-Mail does a good job giving a balanced amount of commentary from both the left and the right sides of the political spectrum.

“It's a real shame to see in the Hagerstown paper this morning about the soldier who was prosecuted ... over in Afghanistan, for killing the citizen. How many citizens did they kill over here in the U.S., on 9/11? That's a real shame.” - Hagerstown   “Boo-hoo, President Obama. He wants change, but only if he gets his way. A real leader would be in the 'war' room with his sleeves rolled up, helping to come up with a plan, rather than appearing on TV. He uses Social Security, Medicare and veterans to scare the citizens, so he can ignore the meat of the proposals and the real problem - his need to raise the debt ceiling to continue to be able to spend, spend, spend without ever being responsible.
