Memorial Recreation Center will hold its fifth annual benefit dance Saturday from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center gym, 131 W. North St. in Hagerstown.    Attendees must be 18 or older to attend. There will be door prizes and a raffle. Food will be available for purchase. Bazaar and yard sale John Wesley United Methodist Church will hold a bazaar and yard sale Saturday, Nov. 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is at 129 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown.

World War II Weekend, Williamsport's tribute to veterans, kicks off Friday at 7 p.m. with a showing of the movie “All through the Night” at Springfield Farm Barn for 50 cents. On Saturday, events include the Abbott & Costello tribute show at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the 1940s fashion show at 2 p.m. and a USO dance at 7 p.m. The cost is $5 for each. The Williamsport Community Band's patriotic concert will be Sunday at 3 p.m. The drawing for the Kristy Danfelt Fund quilt immediately follows.

The For Our Kids Sake coordinators are planning a fashion show Sunday, Sept. 25, starting at 3 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Center, 131 W. North St. in Hagerstown. The Beyond Ordinary Fashion Show held Aug. 5 to Benefit the Humane Society of Washington County raised $1,284.64 for the animal shelter. On Aug. 17, Jodi Colombo of Beyond Ordinary LLC presented the check to Katherine Cooker, manager of development and community relations at the shelter, according to a news release. The event was held at the Ramada Plaza and fashions were provided by a number of shops at Hagerstown Premium Outlets and Potomac Bridals.   Jewelry was provided by Touchstone Crystal.

The Top Five 'Happy Days'   Robinwood Players will perform its summer show, “Happy Days: A New Musical.” 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Aug. 5, and Saturday, Aug. 6, at Hagerstown Community College's alumni amphitheater, off Robinwood Drive, east of Hagerstown. $10; free for HCC students, staff and faculty. Lincolnshire Elementary School will hold Back-to-School Night Monday, Aug. 22, from 6 to 7:45 p.m. A welcome/information session is planned from 6 to 6:30 p.m., followed by classroom visitation for grades K-5 from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and another round of visitation from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. All students and parents living in the Lincolnshire school district are invited to attend. About 100 people turned out Friday night for a spring fashion show that the resurgent Hagerstown Community College Black Student Union club hopes will become an annual event. More than a dozen high school and college-age models donned sportswear, business chic, urban and evening wear for the show, club adviser Monica Hutchins said. "The support is phenomenal, especially from the stores at Hagerstown Premium Outlets," Hutchins said before models took to the stage in the Classroom Building Auditorium on campus.
