Memorial Recreation Center will hold its fifth annual benefit dance Saturday from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center gym, 131 W. North St. in Hagerstown. Attendees must be 18 or older to attend. There will be door prizes and a raffle. Food will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the children of Memorial Recreation Center. Bazaar and yard sale John Wesley United Methodist Church will hold a bazaar and yard sale Saturday, Nov. 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is at 129 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown.

World War II Weekend, Williamsport's tribute to veterans, kicks off Friday at 7 p.m. with a showing of the movie “All through the Night” at Springfield Farm Barn for 50 cents. On Saturday, events include the Abbott & Costello tribute show at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the 1940s fashion show at 2 p.m. and a USO dance at 7 p.m. The cost is $5 for each. The Williamsport Community Band's patriotic concert will be Sunday at 3 p.m. The drawing for the Kristy Danfelt Fund quilt immediately follows.

The Beyond Ordinary Fashion Show held Aug. 5 to Benefit the Humane Society of Washington County raised $1,284.64 for the animal shelter. On Aug. 17, Jodi Colombo of Beyond Ordinary LLC presented the check to Katherine Cooker, manager of development and community relations at the shelter, according to a news release. The event was held at the Ramada Plaza and fashions were provided by a number of shops at Hagerstown Premium Outlets and Potomac Bridals. Jewelry was provided by Touchstone Crystal.

About 100 people turned out Friday night for a spring fashion show that the resurgent Hagerstown Community College Black Student Union club hopes will become an annual event. More than a dozen high school and college-age models donned sportswear, business chic, urban and evening wear for the show, club adviser Monica Hutchins said. "The support is phenomenal, especially from the stores at Hagerstown Premium Outlets," Hutchins said before models took to the stage in the Classroom Building Auditorium on campus.
