Orange and red are in style this season, including together, according to one of the mistresses of ceremonies for Sunday's Fashion in the Know show at Fountain Head Country Club. Women modeled fashions from Lena's of Hagerstown and Aspire, a women's clothing boutique in Frederick, Md. In addition to clothes, handbags and jewelry were highlighted. “Love both of the boutiques,” said Kathy Tierney, who sat at one of the back tables watching the models strut on the runway before walking through the crowd of tables.

Due to the economy, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra Guild's latest fundraiser, a mother-daughter fashion show, will be comparatively toned down. Unlike the guild's last fashion show, organizers said there will be no vintage Christian Dior clothes, fewer business donors and a cheaper ticket price. "We wanted to make it more affordable," said guild president Linda Hood. The guild, the MSO's nonprofit fundraising arm, will host "Fashion in Bloom," a luncheon and fashion show at Fountain Head Country Club on Saturday, May 16. The guild has given the event a mother-daughter theme and is billing it as an ideal Mother's Day gift - giving mom the gift of time, Hood said.

HAGERSTOWN - From flowing skirts to sensible slacks, Ida Leininger was in the front row to see it all. "I love clothes," said the Greencastle, Pa., resident. "I just buy clothes galore ... and shoes. " Leininger said she expected to buy a few outfits today that she saw modeled Sunday during the 21st fashion show organized by the Hagers-town Lioness Club. Joan Bachtell, co-chairwoman of the fashion show committee for the club, said more than $1,000 usually is raised. The bulk of the proceeds benefit the Medical Eye Bank of Maryland, which collects, processes and distributes eye tissue for corneal transplants.
