Two people were flown to Hershey Medical Center following a head-on collision Friday evening on Pa. 641 in Fannett Township, Pennsylvania State Police said. Cassandra E. Krouse, 22, of Fannettsburg, Pa., and Derrick Scibert, 30, of Shade Gap, Pa., were to be treated for moderate injuries, according to a state police news release. A hospital spokesman said he was too busy Friday night to get provide conditions. An occupant of the other vehicle, Robert K. Sweitzer, 56, of Tyrone, Pa., suffered minor injuries.

Firefighters saved a barn from burning Monday afternoon in northern Franklin County after hay caught on fire inside, according to emergency officials. The call for the fire at 24159 Back Road in Fannett Township went out about 1:20 p.m., a Franklin County Emergency Services dispatcher said. A firefighter who answered the phone Monday night at Fannett-Metal Fire & Ambulance in Dry Run, Pa., said crews were able to remove the burning hay from the barn before it spread to the structure.

PennDOT to repair and resurface Pa. 16 in Adamas County CARROLL VALLEY, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be repairing and resurfacing Pa. 16 in southern Adams County, Pa., through December. Preparatory work begins Wednesday, PennDOT said in a news release. Affected is a 3.3-mile section of Pa. 16 from the intersection with Old Waynesboro Pike in Carroll Valley borough to the Pennsylvania/Maryland state line. The $2 million contract was awarded to New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. of Bedford County, Pa. It includes roadway base replacement, shoulder reconstruction, inlet and drainage pipe work, milling and resurfacing, guardrail installation and new traffic lanes.
