FEB. 12, 1942-APRIL 2, 2010 BALTIMORE - Ralph Everett Giffin, 68, died Friday, April 2, 2010, in Baltimore, Md. Ralph was born in Hagerstown, Md., to the late William E. Giffin and Gloria Giffin. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Giffin. Ralph is survived by his wife, Judith Hartman Giffin of Frederick, Md.; their four sons, Ethan E. Giffin of Baltimore, William Chakwin and his wife, Stacey, of Wilmington, Del., Christopher Chakwin and his wife, Jenn, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Timothy Chakwin and his wife, Melanie, of Chattanooga, Tenn.

JUNE 9, 1921-DEC. 20, 2009 James Everett Barnhart Sr., 88, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at City Hospital. Born June 9, 1921, in Berkeley County, he was the son of the late George Peter Barnhart and Vernie Lorena Murphy Barnhart. He retired from E.I. DuPont after 27 years of service. After retirement, he started farming, raising sheep, cattle and turkeys. Later, with his son, Roger, he worked at Barnhart's Markets as vice president.

APRIL 7, 1933-DEC. 9, 2009 WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mrs. Patricia B. (Bishop) "Pat" Small, 76, of 13126 Grandview Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., and a guest of Quincy Village, entered into eternal rest at 11:08 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, in the nursing home. She was born on April 7, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa.; she was the daughter of the late Everett and Lillian (McCready) Bishop. Mrs. Small graduated from Lower Merion High School in Philadelphia with the class of 1951. She then graduated from Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1954.

SEPT. 12, 1963-NOV. 7, 2009 BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Timothy Scott Everett Sr., age 46, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs. Born Sept. 12, 1963, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ulysses John Everett Sr. and Nancy Lee Bernhard. Mr. Everett was of the Methodist faith. He was formerly employed as a truck driver for the Food Lion grocery chain. He is survived by one daughter, Tasha Everett, and two sons, Timothy S. Everett Jr. and Michael Smith, all of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; one sister, Deborah Rickett, Hagerstown, Md.; and one brother, John Everett Jr., Berkeley Springs.

JUNE 11, 1928-SEPT. 20, 2009 Elmer Everett Mowen, 81, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown. Born Monday, June 11, 1928, in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry Clinton Mowen and the late Orpha V. Johnston Mowen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Caroline Arnold Mowen, in 2000. He was employed with M.B. Keener & Sons Construction Co. and formerly with Talheim & Kretzer Construction Co. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

BOYS SOCCER Hyndman 7, Southern Fulton 0 WARFORDSBURG, Pa. -- Courtney Strait had seven saves but Southern Fulton (1-3) was shut out by Hyndman. Clear Spring 1, Broadfording Academy 0 CLEAR SPRING -- Devin Repp scored the winning goal on an assist from Matt Blair as Clear Spring shut out Broadfording.

JAN. 9, 1922-MAY 16, 2009 CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Everett Ezra Norton, 87, of Charles Town, W.Va., formerly of Lewisburg, W.Va., passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson. Born Jan. 9, 1922, in Centerville, Ga., he was the son of the late Everett Ezra Norton Sr. and the late Paulina Magdalene Davis Norton. He was of the Southern Baptist faith, and a founding pastor and charter member of the First Baptist Church of Fairlea, W.Va. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, European Theater.

SEPT. 17, 1912-APRIL 11, 2009 HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Dale Everett Maple, 96, of 10924 Knotty Pine Drive, Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 17, 1912, in Huntington, Ind., to the late Everett O. and Grace Jane Tate Maple. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Estella Mellott Maple, in 2000. He was a 1930 graduate of Michigan Public High School, Detroit, Mich. He was also a 1933 graduate of Tri-State College in Angela, Ind., where he received his bachelor of science degree in aeronautical engineering.

Born March 3, 1959, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry J. and Betty M. Lynch Everetts. He was a 1978 graduate of James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg, Pa. He was a carpenter and last was employed by Whispering Mountain Acoustical Co. in Mercersburg. He attended Pleasant Hill Church in Coseytown, Pa., where he was a member of the Outreach Committee.
