WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Hagerstown CC 79 Anne Arundel CC 40 ARNOLD, Md. - Veronica Johnson had a career-high 19 points and six steals to lead Hagerstown Community College past Anne Arundel Community College in its Maryland JuCo opener. Marquita Polhill led Hagerstown with eight rebounds to go with her eight points. Kristy Long dished out four assists and tallied nine points for the Hawks (5-1, 1-0). Whitney Crankfield led Anne Arundel with 13 points and Victoria Alexander added 10 in the loss.

PREP BASEBALL Sean Engle fired a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and Tim Kellinger blasted two home runs as St. Maria Goretti blanked Avalon 10-0 on Thursday in the Maryland Private Schools Class 'B' semifinals. Engle did not surrender a walk and allowed just one baserunner on an error. Kellinger hit three-run home runs in both the first and second innings to help the Gaels (14-10) jump out to a 9-0 lead. Kevin Brashears doubled twice and drove in two runs, while Chris Dorsey and P.J. Donoghue added two hits each.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012 MEN'S BASKETBALL GERMANTOWN, Md. - Devin Miller scored a game-high 26 points, including two 3-pointers, and added nine rebounds to lead Hagerstown Community College to a 104-99 victory overĀ  Germantown in a Maryland JuCo game Wednesday night. Allister Chisholm posted a double-double with 24 points, including four 3-pointers, and 13 rebounds for the Hawks (13-2, 8-0). Antonio Jenifer had 15 points and Tione Womack added 13 points.
