Franklin County (Pa.) Commissioner David Keller announced Tuesday he intends to seek re-election in 2011. Keller, a Republican, was first elected in November 2007. "I believe we've accomplished a lot over these past three years. I think the bottom line is this — with the help of a very capable management team and our employees, and the cooperation of our fellow elected officials and the courts, we have made very good progress in a number of key aspects of county government," Keller said in a news release.

CLEAR SPRING -- It's too bad Clear Spring doesn't have an electoral college. Maybe then, residents would know the winner of Monday's Town Council election. Town Clerk Juanita Grimm said the two candidates running for the seat, Walter D. Irvin Jr. and Pamela M. Sasser, tied with 23 votes each. Grimm said she wouldn't be certain how to proceed with the election until she confers Tuesday with Town Attorney William Barton. Irvin and Sasser were vying for the Town Council seat that will be vacated in January by Councilman Stewart Brennan, 88, who said in September that he wouldn't seek re-election because of his age. Both candidates said Monday night that they would wait patiently to see what happens.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Voter turnout was low Thursday for the Charles Town municipal election. Only 55 ballots from a possible 1,260 registered voters in Charles Town were cast for the five unopposed candidates, according to City Clerk Brenda Hamilton. In the 1997 municipal election, 200 voters came out, compared to 523 in 1996, Hamilton said. A total of 48 votes were cast for Mayor J. Randolph Hilton, who will enter his second term as mayor. Hilton got into town politics in 1986 when he was chosen to finish the final year of a term vacated when a council member died.
